I haven't been there yet. Does anyone have any feedback? If this has already been posted/discussed, my apologies, I couldn't find it. |

We ordered takeout from them one of the first weeks they were open, the rolls were quite good -- a little small for the money maybe, but fresh. Glad to have a sushi option in town, can't beat the convenience! |

I got take out a few months back. Have never been to the Samurai in Millburn, so had no expectations. I was a little disappointed and can't say that I am anxious to try them again. |

I'm with you Pippi. We ate there one night and the food was fine--it's a great addition to the Village but not my first choice when the Sushi crave hits.

I'm excited because it's there—it's a good family sushi option instead of going into the city. However, my love of the food really depends on what we order. I find the "special" rolls can be good and a meal unto themselves, but last week we chose two we didn't quite care for (and ordered way too much food to begin with!) For my girls it's great though, one loves the miso soup and salad, the other is happy with rice (doesn't eat much else). |

We have been their several times already and find it a nice addition to the Village. |

We've eaten there and had take out twice. It is incredibly better than what was there. |

ffof, amen to that: "better than what was there." Always wondered why people go into the biz when they clearly seem bothered by people. I ate there once for lunch (by myself at the bar) and really liked it. My husband, not a sushi lover, got a broth/seafood dish (name escapes me) for take-out when he had to fend for himself and he wasn't thrilled. But I wouldn't go by that. |

One word - MEDIOCRE!!! Tried the one in Millburn once - didn't bother going back. Gave the one in the Village a chance, and found that it was not nearly as good as Sakana in South Orange, so we don't plan to go back to that one either. |

I think it's all about expectations with any "Japanese" restaurant in the area. Samurai is what it is: American Japanese food. Or perhaps better yet, New Jersey Japanese food. If you like that kind of food, you'll probably enjoy Samurai. But if you are looking for an authentic Japanese meal made by a Japanese chef, you'll have to go to NYC. And even at that, it makes a world of difference to seek out a NYC restaurant that doesn't compromise its offerings to suit the American palate. |
