I heard Topfs on Springfield is selling Ciao Bella Gelato Pints. Can anyone confirm this? |

Springfield and what? That isn't the drug store on Prospect is it? They don't sell food. Someone confirm this rumour please. Do they have interesting flavors that aren't sold in the supermarkets? I hope. |

Alley Gater, Ciao Bella, based in Irvington, makes absolutely terrific gelato and sorbetto, but seems to have disappeared from Whole Foods and Kings, where I used to buy it. Glad someone's posting about it; I was about to call the Irvington office to see about dropping by to buy it. It's that good. |

We have had many discussions here on MOL about Ciao Bella and I would suggest searching the archives. The issue is that you can get a few assorted flavors in pints in a few grocery stores locally but that Ciao Bella actually makes TONS of amazing flavors custom for chefs, caterers and restaurants and we can't get any of those flavors. Check out the site to see the selection. It's staggering. Click on the links on the left side to see even more options. To the best of anyone's knowledge you can NOT go to the Irvington location to pick up pints. From checking out the website just now I was encouraged to see that their are Ciao Bella ice cream shops. The one in Tenafly, NJ and Mott St. in NYC looks VERY encouraging. I might need to call them and see what flavors they have. I think a road trip to Tenafly might be in order. Check out the photos of the stores here. |

Alley, just picked up 3 pints of Ciao Bella from the Millburn Shoprite..And it's on sale!! I died and went to heaven when I tasted the Espresso gelato!!! The mango and passion fruit are divine as well. I stayed away from the chocolate-hazelnut one since the fat content was so high. Think I have to bust out the nutella for the coffee gelato! |

Topfs Pharmacy does indeed have a freezer in the front selling Ciao Bella in Pints and little dixie cups. I haven't checked out the flavors. Stop in and check it out. |

Diva, a pint for $2.99--70 cents off each, I think. Worth making space in my freezer! And they had quite a few flavors as well. |

I know from a good source you can buy pints directly from Ciao Bella's headquarters in Irvington. However, you have to buy a whole sleeve of 8 pints at a time. (A sleeve is 8 pints of one single flavor) |

Why not form a Ciao Bella co-op? 8 people each buy a sleeve, everyone gets one of each flavor. Count me in. |

That sounds VERY enticing. I was out of work just a few months ago. I wish I knew earlier, although I have to wonder if I could actually pay my mortgage in this town on an internship. But a boy can dream right? So Little, do you know the directions to the CB headquarters? Do you have any idea how much they charge for an 8 pack? Do you know if they have the stranger flavors available? I love the regular flavors but I can get them at the supermarket. Do you know if we can get 8 different flavors in a sleeve? If someon were to take the CB intership where might they find themselves in 5 or 10 years? Is the internship paid? |

It definitley won't pay your mortgage - unless maybe you bought 45 years ago. You can only get 8 pints of the same flavor at the headquarters. Same option that is sold to wholesale. The pint selection is only 21 flavors - Strawberry Gelato, Strawberry Chardonnay Sorbet and Fresh Mint with Chocolate Chips were just released. If you want some of the really crazy flavors you have to buy the 5qt size. The office is on 40th Street, between Boyden and Chancellor. You can call the office and speak to a customer service rep 973-373-1200. Best to speak to Sandra or Cristina. The price is higher for consumers. You will need to ask. |

all these posts got me headed to Topf's. Had some blood orange sorbetto. FYI - The selection/prices: I beleive they had chocolate, vanilla, hazelnut & maybe one other gelato. Sorbettos: lemon, mango, passion fruit, blood orange, coconut I think $3.85 half pint or $1.80 single serving. |

Got takeout at Tinga in Millburn this weekend and saw a sign on their door saying they have Ciao Bella Gelato. The first flavor on the list was something like Chocolate and Jalapeno! Could that be right? It sounds interesting. |

Two Sense, do the math. If you order from their website it ends up being something like $9/pint. Who would spend that much on ice cream? Not to mention they don't ship the interesting flavors. You can get the same flavors in the supermarket. Meandtheboys, I would TOTALLY believe that they had Jalepeno ice cream. Caio Bella makes custom flavors for restaurants and caterers. Those are the flavors that I want to get my hands on. AJC, thanks for the offer. I would be curious to know what flavors you guys are able to get and if we could get just a few pints (not 8 of the same for instance) and how much you guys would charge. Compmama, do check out heres2thearts for sure and not just for gelato. They are a great cafe, and at night they are the only place around to hear local musicians. If your musically inclined yourself there are opportunities to get on stage and play along with others. It really is a UNIQUE place that our town offers. Not to mention the Arts are nice fellas. |

AlleyGater - The pints are only sold by the sleeve of 8. Since they are sold that way to retailers, that is how they are packaged. If you are only looking for one pint of each flavor, you are best talking to Heres2theArts or Topfs about getting them for you and possibly sharing. They will get a better deal than you, since they will get a wholesale discount. Not sure if Art would want to mark it up. As for getting your hands on the custom flavors -you won't get those in pints. They are strictly larger containers. But, this summer look for Peach Habanero Sorbet and Lemon Poppy Seed Gelato in pints. (FYI - each season, you can find two of the seasonal flavors in pints) |

...hey, we're not in the ice cream business, we're in the entertainment and service business, so we ‘ll be happy to order whatever you guys want. We can order, and Ciao Bella told us they would make absolutely any flavor we can think of. That being said, lets all get together and start our own local Here's 2 the Arts Ice Cream Club. We must order a certain quantity of one flavor, and as I remember it wasn't all that much. If we get enough players I imagine we could all order some really crazy stuff. Membership to the club is $1.00 per year per family... Here's the deal, (and I'm making this up as we go) on the first Monday night of the month club members meet at H2TA at say 7 or 8PM, (this is no joke even though I know this is Jamie's Comedy Night at the Cafe) and then we vote on how much and what flavors to order. Now the good part, when the bill comes in we all spit it equally; we keep our order and everyone else takes theirs home! Sound like a deal? Let me know who's willing to organize the club with me and then lets start looking forward to some great desserts for everyone in the future...

How many votes to we each get, and if we split our vote is it possible that vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry -- supported by the incumbents -- will be voted in, killing off any potential for new flavors to be considered? |

Art, I think this is an AWESOME idea. As Lil Birdie mentioned the really interesting flavors (the custom ones that are super unique) only come in the big 5 Quart containers (WHICH I THINK is 10 pints???). So we would need to buy (or bring) containers to split the gelato up. I suppose that might be a bit of work, but also A LOT of fun (and deliciously rewarding). I suppose the next question is how much would the ice cream end up costing us and is it worth everyone's while to do it? |

"I believe I can get Ciao Bella to give us any flavor we want in pints and/or in quarts." I’ve toured the factory several times. Their operation is very service oriented, and most everything they do is custom and hand made. As I said before, we must order a certain quantity of one flavor. Listen, lets not get to far ahead of this. It’s all going to depend on how many people are interested in joining the club. I’ll try again to answer your questions. A. It cost what it costs… We buy it wholesale, and when the bill comes in we all spit it equally. A. If you like the idea of ordering small quantities of special flavors of some of the best ice cream in the world, then in my opinion it’s worth while... |
