It's all preference. Try using the following website:

Good luck. Hatteras Island is my favorite.

We've spent time at Sunset Beach - southern coast of NC - very close to SC. Flew into Myrtle Beach airport. Area was beautiful and we had a great time.

Wilmington, NC is a beautiful beach town, with plenty of restaurants and nightlife, but it's still a good place to take kids. If you followed the trials and tribulations of the precocious group of teens on Dawson's Creek, you'll recognize some of their hangouts, because that show was shot there.

We love the outer banks. We've stayed in Avon several times. Last year we did Duck, which is a bit closer and it was also great. If you want to rent a house, which is really the main option, you may find the pickings a bit slim, the tend to book up during the winter.

i was going to say my all time favorite place in coastal carolina is ocracoke island. it's has the most beautiful east coast beach, the ferry boat to get there is breathtaking and the village is quaint with wonderul pirate history. growing up in nags head/manteo, we used to take vacations on ocracoke. that place takes my breath away but don't tell too many people b/c i hate to see it get bombarded like wilmington and nags head.

Emerald Isle, near Morehead City. Love that majority of dwellings are single family homes. We were there for memorial day one year and I could count the number of people. Big empty beaches is just fine by me.
