Anyone know of any good, local places for brunch? Everywhere I love is a bit of a drive... plus it might be fun to try somewhere new. Thanks. |

Scotty's in Millburn does Sunday brunch. It's a pretty nice spread for $18. I went a few weeks ago and had no complaints! |

Verjus does brunch. You also might want to do a search in the archives. We have discussed Weekend Brunch a few times on MOL in the past. |

Yeah, sounds good. Can you give us more details on what was served? |

The Short Hills Hilton has an amazing brunch. While it's expensive ($48 Adult; $24 kids) in my humble opinion is worth it for a special occasion. Everything you can imagine is served here, and more! Try it once--it's a great time. |

I've been to brunch at the Short Hills Hilton - honestly, I liked the one at Scotty's better. Granted it's not as "fancy", but I felt like there was a lot more variety to the food. They even have a whole sugar-free dessert table. The atmosphere is more laid back (if that's what you're looking for....) for $20-30 LESS per person. The food was just as good - you're paying for a name at the Hilton. |

I know Winburries in Summit has a brunch. Haven't been but their food is generally pretty good. For another upscale place you can try the Grand Summit Hotel. |

We tried the brunch at American Fare on Mother's day and were very disappointed (though we have always enjoyed it for dinner in the past). I'm not sure if that was before or after ownership changed hands. Also, I'm not sure if it was a special menu for Mother's Day, or if it's the same every weekend. |

I don't think I have ever been anywhere on Mother's Day that has had a successful brunch. Every place always overbooks and understaffs. I wouldn't judge a restaraunt during that time. |

Had brunch at American Fare with the family and was excellant. Even with a toddler. Heard great things about Verjus, but yet to try. |

Main Streets Cafe in Madison has a great brunch. If you want to hit the mimosas or bloody marys hard, you can always train it! |

The Madison Hotel (in Convent Station on Route 124) has a fantastic Sunday brunch buffet. It has a very nice atmosphere (piano player, etc.) and the food is yum. |

It's a bit of a hike, but the North Maple Inn in Basking Ridge has a decent chamagne brunch. It's a 30 minute ride off of 287. When you're finished, The Great Swamp is nearby, as well as apple picking in the fall. |

I've just left Scotty's (cycled there with the intention of eating at one of their tables on the deck outside but was too hot) and there were leaflets for Father's Day: "Father's Day Champagne Brunch" (10.30am-2.30pm). All you can eat (waffle station, carving station etc.) for $16.95. I guess the champagne isn't going to be Krug or Moet et Chandon but that price is hard to beat. |
