I usually buy my tea at McNulty's in the Village but am looking for a place that is more local. Does anyone know of a shop that sells a good variety of teas? I am looking for a place that specializes in tea and not just a place that sells a few bags of tea along with their extensive selection of coffee beans. Thanks!

you can mail order from McNulty's (which I do from time to time when its not convenient to get there)..or try Pen and Jen's at the Maplewood train station..they have a very wide selection of loose teas. |

a second for Pen & Jen's, in addition to a great selection of teas that they specially blend themselves, they are super nice, give a lot back to the community and make great cookies too! |

Part of the fun for me is the shopping and selection. I like to see what's new, what's imported, what smells good, etc. I don't think Pen & Jen's, as good as they are, fits the bill. Maybe a trip to McNulty's is worth it if there aren't any similar places in the area. |

If you catch Pen and Jen themselves when they aren't busy, they love love to talk tea, let you smell stuff, try stuff, etc. They can tell you the story behind each tea - who they buy it from, how its grown, etc. Saturday morning is a good time because they are usually both there baking delicious popovers and chit chatting. They take tea seriuosly and have turned me on to some great stuff.

I discovered a place today in Montclair called "Beans"....they sell gourmet coffee beans and numerous varieties of loose tea as well as many different kinds of imported tea bags. It's located at 52 Church Street, Montclair (just off Bloomfield Ave). |

IMHO, Pen and Jen are the last word in tea! If they don't have, they'll get it... If they don't know about something, they'll find the answer and get back to you. |

That's funny. Cat head just posted the link to the site that my wife told you about, Spare_o. I had a busy couple of days, but I'll try and drop off some samples of the wedding tea real soon. It's good stuff. cat head, Would you happen to be my wife? |
