We can recommend the chicken souvlaki and the popeye salad which had baby spinach, roasted red peppers, prosciutto, bacon, fresh mozzarella, etc. - yum! (It was one of a number of serious low-carb dishes for those of you who care.) Some of the wait staff are inexperienced but they're friendly and they should be fine with a bit more time.

We went back for breakfast which was decent diner food (good blueberry pancakes.)

We just tried Parkwood last night for the first time with my 2-year-old son in tow. They couldn't have been nicer to him and more accommodating to us. As soon as we sat down, crayons and a placemat he could draw on was brought to the table.

The food was fantastic. (Thanks for the tip on the sweet potato fries guys, they were delish!) My medium burger was cooked to perfection and my husband really enjoyed his omelet.

The place was sparkling clean and the service was excellent. We will definitely be back A LOT!

p.s. We picked up a take-out menu too. The salads do look really interesting and the owner told us that they plan on delivering soon.

Is anyone getting a kickback from all the advertising you guys are doing for this place?

Sorry to be such a cynic.....

Ummm, YES, Jay, actually, we are. The kick back is that this decent diner WILL STAY OPEN!!!

I got a similar response to some of my posts about Heart & Soul. I don't get it - aren't we supposed to share our opinions about businesses in our area, good or bad? Isn't MOL exactly the place for that? I'm really curious as to why all this positive feedback is bothering you Jay?

Dego, I'm with you. I already posted how much my family liked the diner many posts ago. That's the kick back - making sure people try it and it thrives - and the owner is thrilled that people are giving it good reviews. The closest I got to a kick back was an offer to work there but that was before I posted so no kick back.

Cathy, I just had the Popeye salad today when I went there for a late lunch with a friend and my son. It was scrumptious and I'm still full from it.

Good food, good service.Huge portions. The lentil soup was fresh and delicious and so was the beet salad that they served as a complimentary dish. Planning to check out their ommlettes in the near future.

It's not bothering me, sorry to have misled. I'm actually impressed by the number of posts and love diners, so my bad.

Must be my 'time of the month'.....

With the large portions, the Park Wood will leave you with that bloated feeling.

No, you leave the diner; it doesn't leave you.

Why do restaurants have to give such big portions anyway? If the food is good, I'll be satisfied, I promise. It's more of the "more is better, so even more is even better" attitude in America.

Unfortunately that isn't true Tom. If you pay a lot of money for a nice meal for instance, people complain when the portion is small (regardless of whether they are full at the end of the meal) -- think about Nouvelle Cuisine for instance. I too would be VERY happy if they gave me a normal sized 8oz portion of protein/main course at a lower price. But it just doesn't work that way. If they gave you a smaller portion the price isn't going to be reduced. Restaurants don't want to earn less money. Also, as you have pointed out many times on MOL the food is NOT the most expensive part of the eating out experience. So it makes more financial sense for the restaurant to just give a very generous portion and not have to deal with the negative criticisms that inevitably would occur with the serving of smaller dishes.

Oh, I realize that they fend off that dissatisfaction by making the portions absurdly large. I realize it's good business, but I can still wish they didn't, or at least comment that I, for one single, statistically insignificant person, would NOT be less satisfied.

I think it's ridiculous making HUGE portions. I am not a fan of taking doggy bags home -- I think it's a nasty practice. My sister once brought home leftovers from a restaurant and I think my mother nearly had a heart attack. So tacky.

Usually an appetizer portion at most places is enough for an entree.

My doggy LOVES my wife's leftovers. He's not a big fan of my tofu leftovers though.

Probably scared by the swan-shaped aluminum foil...

-s.

BTW: So, Alg, I take it that your clan either makes it a practice of leaving your plates half-filled at most eateries, or simply sharing everything, family-style? How very frugal.
