I had a blast... I did not cook but consumed large quantities of everything that was prepared... :-)

Thanks to Mustt for the idea and the implementation, tom for the bread & jasper for the Brownie... Chris & Laura for hosting us and letting us mess up their kitchen and the tables... Cent Anni is a nice space and I will surely be going there for dinner...

Wilkanoid, that might be the highest compliment that anyone can pay me (that I was patient with the kids). I had a great time with the kids. I love working with kids. In my next life, I hope to be a teacher, maybe of fourth or seventh grade. I couldn't manage it in this life, though, with a Maplewood-size mortgage.

The kids did a great job!

The cleanup afterwards was easy, so don't worry.

Tom, consider the compliment paid twice. You were remarkably easygoing with the kids, and Jeremy really enjoyed it. I don't have much patience myself, and find it hard to cede control and let my son do things for himself, but last night he really made a point of saying that he wanted to do the work himself, and I'm continually amazed at how well he usually does when I step back. So thanks for helping me with that process. And our challah is delicious. We ate some this morning for breakfast.

Okay, I've uploaded the pictures from my camera to my computer and weeded out the egregiously bad ones, and there are still around 50 photos. I can scale the best ones down and try posting them here, but I don't want to post any photos of people who don't want their images presented here. Alternatively, you can PL me with your email address and I can send the ones that I think you'd like to each of you. Let me know what you'd prefer.

I don't mind pictures being posted as long as they're flattering!
(And the way your husband was snapping away I'm positive there are plenty that were not!)

didn't have a chance to post yesterday but just wanted to add my feedback - it was great to meet everyone, and we enjoyed it immensely, loved the food. Will definitely think about doing it again.

Okay, I've whittled the pictures down to 34, and I'm in the process of uploading them to Snapfish. In order to view them, I have to send you an email invitation. I have email addresses for Wilkanoid and Tom. Anyone else interested in viewing the pictures needs to PL me with their email address. I promise I won't use it for anything else.

shh, I tried to use my best judgement about removing photos that were less than flattering, though those mostly involved me, and you'll notice that I left some of them in at my own expense if the rest of the photo was worth viewing.

Marinab, I got your PL message, but you didn't include your email address. Could you send me another message with it? Thanks.

Jasper, I was going to ask you this when I sent you my email address. Is there a way to share your snapfish images without REQUIRING us to create an account. While I would like to see the images, I'm not sure I can be bothered to actually create an account.

AlleyGater, I know how you feel, but for any of these photo websites, I believe you have to create an account. For what it's worth, if I recall correctly, all you need to provide is your name, email address and a password. I'm sure that there is then a way to tell Snapfish to not send you marketing emails. It is a fully legitimate website, so no worries there.

The reason that I didn't post them directly here is that there are quite a lot of them, and I was concerned about protecting the privacy of the participants. If everyone gives me permission to post them here, and Jamie doesn't complain that I've overloaded his server with jpegs, then I'd post them here.

In the meanwhile, there are a small handful of shots that don't show any people, and I can post those, but they won't give the full flavor of how much fun we all had. It will also have to wait until I get home tonight.

how big are they in file size? If they're big images - you can get them to me on disk and I can resize and post a little gallery online.

I created a disposable email account to create my snapfish account. I created the disposable account by using http://www.spambob.com

I had the mail forward secretly to my home address. Whenever I get secretly forwarded mail, spambob inserts a note to that effect in the mail so I know why I am getting the mail. If snapfish spams me (against their promise), I will delete the forwarding with spambob.

snapfish does try to send me pop-ups, but my browser blocks those.

Cool, Tom.

Jamie, I can't remember how big they are, but I'll check tonight when I get home and post back.

Again, there is the privacy issue. Is there anyone among the attendees that would prefer that pictures of themselves and/or their children not be posted publicly? Personally, I don't mind, but others might.

Jamie, the files are anywhere from around 400K to 1MB, and there are 37 of them (I thought I'd gotten them down to 34 - must have lost count), for a total of 23.3MB. I will try scaling a few generic ones down and posting here just to see how it goes.

Here are some more photos:

Food Prep
Masala Dabba
Preparing Pakoras
Frying Pakoras
Finished Challah

As I get allowances from others to post photos here, and if Jamie doesn't complain that the images are still too large, I'll post more here. Aha, I see that 240K is the maximum size, so I only had to resize one of them a bit more.

Believe it or not, I find challah to be the easiest type of bread to bake. I'll certainly teach you, especially if there's an Italian meal to go with it.

Tom --

We stuck the dough in the refrigerator that night since the shortest one was having a meltdown. Mr. W took it out and let it rise the next evening and finished baking it. It still came out perfectly.

I'd post a picture, but it's long gone.

My favorite part of it is the fragrant, crisp crust. We're thinking of making rolls, or a loaf. Have you ever had it toasted with butter? It's the best.

Yes, though I like it with butter and jam. And it makes the best french toast.

A few years ago, my kids went to school with several slices of challah for lunch, no sandwich. They used it as currency, since their classmates loved it so much.

Actually, the very best thing in the world is to spread butter on a slice of challah (not toasted!), then take some halvah (preferably chocolate covered, but plain will do) and spread it over the top of that. It's my favorite indulgence. My mother and I used to eat that sometimes on Shabbos (Saturday) morning with the challah from Friday night. Just thinking about it makes me wish I had some right now.

If I get permission (that would be from Wilkanoid, Marinab and the Mustt's), I'll post some of the challah baking photos. The kids really enjoyed it.

I am sorry I didn't think to try bugmenot.com. There was a name and password that worked for snapfish. I saw the photos. They were SO good. Thanks for sharing them with us. The food looked unbelievably delicious. It made me wish I was there SO MUCH MORE than I already did.

I'm glad you guys had fun. I think that bodes well for me having a chance to go to another one. :-)
