I don't believe i've seen this posted here before (it's from a nj food board), so forgive me if it's been discussed already. But apparently ownership of Jocelyne's has now changed hands. I *knew* i should've gotten around to trying it earlier! The following note is from Mitchell and Jocelyne. Before for all the rumors start why we sold, I will tell you why we sold. We sold at the height of our biz we were booked 4-5 weeks in advance I was getting a little tired (burnt) working in such a small kitchen, we gave a lot of sacrifices for this place, the day my mother died I had to work, the birth of our grandchild we had to wait 4 weeks to see him, I was there for every meal that left that kitchen for 7.5 years. How many other chefs with a 27 zagat rating can say that? We loved the place We love Maplewood We love Food & Wine We loved our customers And I think it's better to get out when you are at the top of your game. That to me is a real Artist. (We'll be back Fresh again) thanks Mitch" |

I get the sense that it's already happened. Nothing has been said about the new owners. |

Funny, I thought it was a realtor that gave free manicures if you used them to find/buy a house. |

The ownership change took place last week. I'd bet you didn't even notice the change if you've eaten there in the past week. If you did notice a change, I'm sure it was for the better (if possible) The new owners are keeping it a French restaurant (maybe with a little twist). The owner is still the one cooking all the dishes himself, just like Mitch. The same love and attention will go into every dish served. His fiance will be helping him run the restaurant. The name will even remain Jocelyn's for a short time while everyone gets used to the fact that there are new owners. I'd still be prepared to make reservations way in advance, that's one thing that will definitely not change! |

I think they should make it more obvious that they are under new ownership, if they haven't already. Although I'm sure every attempt will be made to maintain the past quality, customers should be made aware of the change and be able to make their own decision about whether to dine there under the circumstances. I, for one, hope that they maintain the quality and freshen it up a little. |

To all, this is John from Freeman's Fish Market. Mitchell was one of our favorite and most selective wholesale customers - actually coming into the store to select his seafood each day. The new owner, Umberto has proven to be as selective and also has a great resume. Umberto knows that he has big shoes to fill and I think he is up to the task. Give him a chance to be successful. Be well - John |

I ate there over the weekend and the food was excellent. I can't compare it to how it was before (this is the first time I've been there), but I was very happy with my experience. I'll definitely be back. |
