Haven't been for a few years & went tonight. I always thought the food was "fine" but the new ownership has elevated the menu. The food was excellent. TS had pasta & I had the shrimp & cannellini bean dish. Our salads were huge. The atmosphere was very nice and relaxed. I have to say that I love tartufo, and Cafe Arugula's is still the best around here. But this was pretty good, too. My only complaint is that our waiter was very dry. Excellent, knowledgeable, pleasant, attentive (but not too). Just never laughed. That's a pet peeve of mine; I have this thing about making people laugh. So, the tip was exactly 20% before tax. We will be back and I won't even mind that waiter again. Hey - he is who he is. Right? Besides, there are too many yummy looking things on the menu to try. |

my in-laws raved about the red snapper at Cent Anni's and the pork with cherries (something like that) was fabulous. Hubby had a lobster ravioli special which looked great and was very well priced ($16.99?). |

greenetree - thank you for your kind comments - the waiter in question does indeed have a very dry sense of humour..I will have a word with him about the occasional smile (or, who knows, maybe even a laugh!) Watch out for new lunch and dessert menu coming soon too! |

Sounds like Jay, who is a really cool guy and has a great, but yes very dry, sense of humor. |

Chris - Oh, please - don't tell Jay to smile. If that isn't his way, that's not his way. Perhaps my ego needs to adjust to waiters who don't laugh at my stupid jokes just to get a bigger tip. Will you be adding a dark chocolate shell to the tartufo? |

Had a wonderful dinner at Cent'anni last night.Nice crowd of people too..The filet mignon with pocinni mushrooms was one of the specials and my huband said it was delicious.I had a grilled veal chop(not breaded) watching my diet and they are always accomdating to special requests..like no potatoes...just tasty broccoli rabe or their spinach are my two favorites..Altogether a very enjoyable evening.. |

I haven't considered patronizing the local Italian restaurants due to my allergy to wheat. Based upon this thread, however, I might reconsider. I haven't been to an Italian restaurant in 4 years, when I was diagnosed, since it was my favorite cuisine before and it's just too hard to pass up the bread basket and I'm not much of a meat eater (is that a run-on sentence or what?). I'll have to stop by to check out the menu.

Spare- you would probably be very happy. There are tons of wheatless options on the menu. The hot bread with olive oil for dipping might be painful to skip, but there is also the relish dish of marinated mushrooms to make up for it. Alg - TS was very torn between the snapper & past. In the end, she was feeling more like pasta, but she was excited to hear how much your m-i-l enjoyed it. I know what the next order will be. |

spare - there are indeed many wheatless options on the Cent'Anni menu - please see attached - , and we are happy to 'improvise' subject to availability should there be special requests for items not on the menu |

My daughter learned to love red snapper there! Husband loves the osso bucco. I like pretty much everything. We are not rolling in the $$, and used to save Cent'Anni just for special occasions. Since times, however, we've discovered the joys of going in and (1) sharing some appetitzers, and (2) getting a 1/2 order of the pasta dishes. So, if you're thinking your budget ordinaire only allows for Trattoria or Roman Gourmet, reconsider...! I really like both T and RG, but the atmosphere is not conducive to relaxation in either... Note to Chris: Considering any prix fixe dinner options? Small salad, entree, glass of house wine? |

Just thinking if you were trying to drum up business on off nights, or early...it would definitely give rise to us stopping in more often. I do think a fair number of folks probably think of Cent'Anni as an expensive night out only. In reality, not always/necessarily. I know you want high end dine-ers, but in the bar area, depending upon what one orders, it can compare to the pub/Trattoria (but with way better atmo/service). |

Cynical - how about the afore mentioned salad, entree (choice of say 6 entrees) and a glass of wine for $16.95 weekdays between 5 and 6pm? |

The price is GREAT! The time is not quite as many of us don't return from work till 6. Don't know if this messes up your formula, but I'll bet Tue to Thur (presume you're closed Monday, and that Friday is a prime time) and stretching the "order" time to 6:30 or 7 makes it a winner. Can't speak for others, but my price threshold for a casual, but nice dinner out for 2 adults is (with tip, assuming a glass of wine) is about $50. Your offer fits right in there with tax and tip. Often, our kid (over 8, under 14) is with us and we expect to go higher. |

I agree with Cyn. TS & I are likely to be your demographic - likely to spend $50 on dinner in the middle of the week. The earliest we get home is 6:30 & meeting at your place (me with the car & her from the train) sounds like something we'd do from time to time. |

cyn & greene, how about if I stretch the offer to 6.30 Tues-Thurs(give or take a few minutes, call if the train is delayed - yes, I did that for many years and know they don't always run exactly on schedule..)? |

The hubster and I were there last night for a quick birthday dinner before catching a movie. The salads were good and as always the veal ravioli was fantastic. I'm 20 weeks pregnant and I dream of that ravioli. We even skipped the 7pm showing of Batman to see Dark Water at 7:30 so we could eat there, which turned out to be a bad call, since Dark Water was beyond awful (and this coming from two horror fans.) Chris, we will take you up on that special with our 2-yr-old if you stretch it to 6:30, so hubster can catch the 5:50. |

absolutely loved the squash ravioli too. hey chris, how about olives instead of 'shrooms on the table? or both, perhaps....but not touching each other! can you tell i'm not a marinated mushroom lover? just one more suggestion; please either print the daily specials, with prices, or have waiters include prices when reciting the specials. i'm not a cheapskate...and in fact i do order daily specials most of the time. i just like knowing prices before i buy. congrats on making a good place even better. we really enjoyed our dinner.

6:30 is more reasonable! I love the mushrooms - everyone serves olives (which I hate). I would venture to guess that a side of olives could be substituted if you ask. |
