Professionals In Media (PIM) will host their second annual potluck barbecue on Sunday, July, 10, at 3 p.m. at Les Saisons, 304 Elmwood Avenue in Maplewood, NJ. Guest speaker Linda Eckhardt will share her adventures as a food writer. This talk is open to all media professionals.

Eckhardt writes for several national magazines and is the author of 17 cookbooks. She is a three times James Beard Award winner and has received the Julia Child award for best cookbook of the year. Last year, she won a James Beard Award for her radio show, “Don’t Talk With Your Mouth Full.” Along with host Jennifer English, the show aired on ABC AM in 95 markets and is now in hiatus preparatory to moving to the round table at the Algonquin hotel where it will soon air daily in New York markets as well as satellite radio world wide. The new name for the show will be. “Round the Table”.

Eckhardt will begin a 9 city tour in September for her latest cookbook “Cakes From Scratch in Half the Time”. She is currently at work on a cookbook called “The Dog Ate It”, which offers recipes to share with your four-legged friends.
A Texas native, Eckhardt is a current resident of Maplewood and an accomplished chef in her own right.

Admission to this event is a beverage or food item (food preferred). Like last year, we are hoping to organize a feast. Linda (Eckhardt) will talk about food and all who attend will bring something to put on the barbecue, or a salad, dessert or beverage.

Reservations are necessary, so PIM can coordinate the food. Families are welcome. This will be a day to enjoy good food, listen to a witty speaker, learn the good, the bad, and the ugly about cookbook publishing, and build networking opportunities. A small pool is on the premises. Rain date is the following Sunday, June 17 at 3pm.

For reservations, contact Jackie Herships at jherships2@aol.com or call 973-763-7555.
Or Michele Hollow at mchollow@pipeline.com.
