I suppose I should just ask at one of the local Chinese places, but I'll put this out here in case there are any great suggestions ...

I'm looking to buy several dozen fortune cookies for an event for young kids (mostly preschoolers along with some elementaries.) I would particularly like to find some with fortunes that are directed toward kids, but the "regular" ones are OK.

Any recommendations?

Sac,
If you search google I'm sure you will find quite a few online stores that sell fortune cookies for all occations.

This is the first on the list for google of custom fortune cookies.
http://www.customfortunecookies.com/

Here is a link to the google search for custom fortune cookies.

I have not ever tried any of these companies, so I don't know how good any of these cookies will taste.

I didn't even think of Google. (And I'm usually the first to Google most anything these days.)

However, I need them for next Monday, so I'm doubtful about ordering at this point.

I believe that Costco sells fortune cookies in large quantities. Not sure however if you would have any choice what fortunes they are.

Lived in China for 1.5 years and never once saw a fortune cookie. Go figure. Coins hidden in dumplings during Spring Festival is closest thing I can think of as a source.

Did you see this article in the New Yorker about the guy who writes most of the fortune cookies? Mildly interesting:

I want that job! Just for one day. I would write these:

"You will be followed home if tip not 20%."

"This is the last fortune. Please re-order now."

"That wasn't chicken, it just tasted like it."

"Help, I'm being held a prisoner in Sichuan Penitentiary where I'm forced to write these fort..(see next cookie)"

"Orange slices carry dangerous toxins."

etc.
