We went to Dasti's the other night and ate outside. The food was great and the price was right but there were barely any people there. I am curious about anyone else's experience? |

Honest truth, never was inclined to try it after the early reviews here....didn't sound like our kind of place. If you enjoyed, please do give more details. |

I had New Zealand mussels and sole stuffed with crab meat. Everyone else with us enjoyed their food as well. What was the gist of the earlier reviews? |

Good to hear mem - we didn't try it because the early reviews were, as you just read, rather lack luster. Thanks for the tip - perhaps we'll give it a try now. |

We just had dinner there tonight. I had the filet of sole in tomato basil sauce and my husband had the shrimp and lobster over angel hair pasta. Both excellent. the service was maye a little slow, but each dish was freshly cooked to order, and worth waiting for. The people were lovely--friendly and professional. |

I had a bad experience there soon after it opened. Frazzled waitress, incorrect food, no replacement offered, waiting for over 20 minutes for our check while the maitre d' chatted with the cashier........ The food that was not incorrect wasn't very good, either. Perhaps they've gotten better since then, but I'm not going back. |

Went to Dasti's last night and was pleasantly surprised. The food was very good and the service was excellent. Sort of don't think that the decor and music choice doesn't go well with the food.. but other than that we really enjoyed the place! |

I ate at Dasti's the other night with my mother. There was only one other table the entire time we were there, and they were outside (we were inside)! But...the food was EXCELLENT. I had linguine in white clam sauce. It wasn't super watery like at other restaurants, just very fresh and actually a bit spicy. Really good. My mother loved her salad and eggplant dish. The waiter was so professional, nice and adorable. The decor is hideous but the music was good -- Sinatra and Bocelli. Our entire dinner came to $30 pre-tip. I was very surprised to see the place so empty. Of course, the lack of liquor license doesn't help. Anyway, I thought it was quite nice. |

I'm really glad to hear the good reviews, and will make a point to go. The Dastis are a local family (as opposed to a family that lives here but makes its living in NYC or elsewhere). The siblings are active in the Millburn school system (esp the athletics department) and they give a lot of their time to the community. I'd love to be able to make the restaurant a regular part of our restaurant repertoire. |
