Shabu shabu? My daughter's 21st birthday is Monday and we would like to take here out for something really special. We love shabu shabu. Is there someplace in driving distance that does a nice job? A little ceremonial, etc? Thanks, R

I clicked on this even though the operative term, shabu shabu, was not in the thread name. I suspect more people will click if the operative term IS in the thread name.

We used to go and enjoy a place called Shabu Shabu in NYC, East Village, but years ago. Something tells me they may still exist--do a google search.

Shabu well, all.

(and happy birthday to your daughter!!)

David

Yes, I find the "teaser" subject lines quite annoying.

By the way, Rebecca, there's this great search engine. It's called "Google". It's really useful when you want to research a topic, search for things, etc. Try it! www.google.com

I entered "shabu shabu nj" and 3,860 entries were found!! Get this!! The best place to find Japanese food is at Japanese restaurants!!!! Try searching "Japanese restaurants NJ"

Glad I helped out.

That was a very jerkish reply aquaman. Becky's a smart cookie and knows all about Google. She chose to come here for friendly 1st hand experience recommendations. Sort of like those "where do you get the best pizza" posts.

Becky - hope you find a great place for K's birthday... can't believe she's 21! How time flies.

If you do find a place, please post it along with your reviews. Haven't had shabu shabu in years and years!

I'm so tired of people making those kind of jerky responses. Please keep them to yourself. I've been posting here for years and everytime I try to be interesting or unique or say anything the least bit humorous I get criticized. I have a sense of humor, but it doesn't include making fun of or criticizing other people.

For those of you interested. I'll let you know if I find a place, but I may not post it here.

Jamie or Dave: Please delete this thread. Thanks, R

Seriously Aquaman, why are you so obnoxiuos and angry in your reply here? Having a bad day, or a miserable life? In any event, this isn't your blog - many of us enjoy replying with substance.

Beckie- you are such a great person, always willing to help others with what they are looking for...consider the source and realize that some people are all wet and probably have no manners....
Can't believe that you have another "adult" in your home!!!
Happy Birthday to K.........

Let me be the jerk here for moment and say that I understand WHY and HOW Aquaman would feel the way he does. I have felt the EXACT SAME WAY as him many times before.

Sounded pretty snotty to me too, but perhaps aquaman was trying to be funny and missed the mark? That sometimes happens when we don't have the benefit of facial expressions and body language.
