We went many years ago - stopped for 1 day and a night enroute from camping near Assategue and on the way to Williamsberg. We caught the Mets AAA team - fun (used to be called the Tidewater Tides), went to the wonderful maritime museum there with its own IMAX theatre and that's about it. I think the next day we were hit with the tail end of a hurricane. Can't remember where we ate. |

I highly recommend Lynnhaven Fish House http://www.lynnhavenfishhouse.net/ Haven't been there in a while, but the 3 or so times we have dined there were excellent. I'd say Legal Sea Foods would be a good comparator--if Legal were on the water and had darker decor. It's right on the water, a little east of the end of the bridge-tunnel, on the road to Virginia Beach. The link above has directions. |

Check out the No Frill Grill in the Ghent section of Norfolk, and now in VaBeach. Also, biking and kayaking in the state park in-land at the northern end of VaBeach is fun. The VaBeach boardwalk and beach are good. And, the Norfolk botanical garden is wonderful -- near the airport, and includes a birds-eye view of the runway, which captivates kids (and adults). |
