everyone has their favorite place around town. is it so bad i declare my opinion ? even if it does criticize other places? isn't MOL about opions and judgements? exactley. don't assume people are out to get other people merely because of accusations they make. |

I never believe anyone on MOL; always try for myself. The rest of you would be wise to come to your opinions, too. What is that old saying about "one man's _______ is another man's ___________." |

diane- there was absolutely no need for the size and boldness of your postings.. we're all able to read the regular font size and comprehend it just the same. so happy to see that nobody takes the trash you talk seriously. shame on you. |

i was not screaming, and if you took it that way, forgive me. i don`t care what pizzeria you choose to go to, whatever you like, is great. you like some places you don't. all of this controversy is completely unnecessary. |

It sure read like SCREAMING to me. Regular font sizes work rather nicely when trying to convey a rational response. Your message - whatever the intent - was lost in the delivery. |

Dianne's post makes me want to go and support Frank more. He's such a happy nice guy. I'll even eat his pizza with cold onions. He's just that nice. |

We were planning to try out the new place even before reading "Diane's" post (including the one on Roman Gourmet in another thread). Anyway, we're fans of both Roman and the Village Trattoria, and we thought Frank's pizza was very good as well. I was more pleased with the feel of the place and the rest of the menu, it felt like the sandwich places I've frequented elsewhere that I was missing in New Jersey. I hope the subs are as good. |

Diane, I think you've probably inadvertently helped Frank out by the "over the top" nature of your SCREAMING post. Geez, calm down girl!! Now I'll make a point of going to Frank's just to give the poor guy a chance. |

Me too. And seeing as though MOL probably represents about .5% of the population, if that, there is really no need to get too worked up about one persons obvious dislike for specific places. Your opinion? Yes. Bad delivery? Yes. Why not wait a couple of weeks and try again to see if you have the same experience. Then report back calmly. I will continue to support Franks. They may have kinks to work out however it's a new business and NOT another nail salon. Name one new restaurant that has opened up in the area that did not have any problems in the beginning.

Tried Frank's last night. Pizza, chicken parm hero, wings. All were good. People were friendly. No complaints. We're not loyal to any one pizza joint. This will definitely be added to the list of places. |

I had asked Vinnie from Roman Gourmet what happened to Frank, he told me that Frank lived in PA and the commute was getting too much for him and got a job near his home. Instead of lying, Vinnie should have just said he left |

Unless that is what Frank told Vinnie when he was leaving Roman Gourmet. |

I doubt he would have told Vinnie that if he was planning to open up his own place not very far away... weird. |

To Vinnie's credit, I asked him why he told me Frank left to be close to home. He said that's what Frank told him, Frank only gave him 3 days notice. So, it seems Frank had this in the works for a while. |

I seriously doubt that Vinny or his dad would be very happy to learn what this Diane person has been posting. I'm sure they have nothing to do with the things she has to say. As for the 'controversy' you mention Diane, you created it with your posts. My family has been going to the Roman Gourmet since it opened 20 something years ago. We've know Tony and his wife since they first opened, and their four kids - Angela and Vinny and Michael (and I can't recall the other sister's name) since they were born. We've always found them decent hardworking people. We've also known Frank from the many years he worked for Tony and Vinny. I doubt he'd be any happier about Diane's comments then Vinny or Tony would. When I first saw this thread a few weeks ago, I asked Vinny about Frank opening his own place. He was caught off guard by my question. So I'm guessing he had no clue. |

Dianne I think what everyone is saying is if you had an unpleasant experience at this place you should have told the owner first and perhaps made a note on this sight. Then if you had gone back and found a similar problem then post it in a strong way. From what i have read this person seems to have been in roman gourmet for many years and most likely knows what he is doing. Perhaps you had a bad experience and he had an off day? |

We tried Franks' for take-out the other night. Had chicken parm dinner and baked ziti - both were delicious. The sauce was almost as good as my Italian mother's home-made. When picking up the meal, my husband overheard a customer telling Frank that when she inquired about him at the Roman Gourmet, they told her Frank was ill. After a few inquiries, they told her the truth. |

We are very happy with Frank's. The pizza has been excellent, and the baked ziti was the best I'd had in a while. I wish Frank much success. As far as that SCREAMING post a few weeks back -- it is obvious that the poster had some agenda, and when she was called on it, she backpedaled. Truth is, this town is big enough for more than one pizzeria. It's too bad that people have to resort to trashing the new guy, or lying about what happened to a longtime employee. |

Frank's pizza is just average, a little to thick and raw. He is such a nice guy I certainly hope he makes it. I still think the Cadilac of local pizza's belongs to Joes. Reservoir makes a good pie and great chicken murphy, and Star tavern on the end of scotland makes a great pie also. The rest around town are just so so. |

My very favorite pizza around is Reservoir. I grew up with Reservoir, and I feel as though I have rediscovered it (i.e., I just realized they deliver to Maplewood - DUH). I think it beats anything I have had around here. |

I just met the owner (Tony?) and he was such a sweetheart. I told him I didn't have a car and he said to give him a call and if business was slow, he would bring me pizza. "Always call.." he said. It warmed my heart. |
