Where's the best place to get booze around town? The cheapest place I've found is 'Home Liquors' on Springfield. It's pretty large (they even have shopping carts) and as an example, a 1.75 liter of Bacardi Rum is $19.99 and the same size Dewars is $26.99 whereas the place in town is $23.99 and $37.99. Is there a cheaper place that I don't know about?

Where, exactly, is it? And...how is the wine selection? Thanks, Drink well (and in moderation), all. David |

I don't drink wine so I'm not sure how their prices are but if you tell me what you're looking for I'll see if they have it and how much it is. I was going to stop by there again tomorrow anyway. Home Liquors is just a couple of lights up past the Quick Chek on Boyden (and the community pool) it may actually be in Irvington I'm not sure, but it's on the right hand side at Sanford Ave. |

I've found that A&D Deli in SO has good prices. Especially on wine. They are on Valley right past Pathmark in the right. Sanjay and his family are great. |

If you want the most incredible selection of wine you can imagine, and decent prices, you have to check out the Wine Library on Morris Ave in Springfield. Its become nationally known and has a web site too for online ordering. Great staff as well. |

A & D Deli - I went in there once looking for some regular blended American whisky, and they didn't know what I was talking about. Scotch and Canadian was offered as what they had instead. I don't think they understand whisky. |

Value and selection are quite good at Bliwise at the intersection of Route 22 East and Mountain Avenue--- courteous service, advice when you need it also. The Wine Library is good, but it can be a bit overwhelming and at times overcrowded. IMHO |

22 East and Mountain Ave?? What town? In Springfield Mountain Ave leads to 22 W (no exit to 22 E there - only from So Springfield) but I don't see any Bliwise there?? |

Lisa E: I may have misnamed the road off of 22 East. It's across from the west entrance of Echo Lake Park. And it's the road that leads straight into Westfield. Rte 22W has several left turns, one after the other, there so that drivers can head back east on 22. Bliwise is just east of those left hand turns. |

I like to shop at BOTTLE KING. There's one on Bloomfield Ave in Montclair and one on Rte 10 in Moris Plains. It's a big discount shop with very good prices and good selection of wines. Wine Library is a great experience, amazing selection, service and breadth but I don't think the prices are as low as Bottle King. Unless you're looking for something really special or rare, I don't see the need to shop at WL. WL's a beautiful place and I like to go there to worship and genuflect. But I buy, usually, at BK. |

And there's always Trader Joe's in Westfield, if you absolutely must have your "2 buck Chuck." |

How about setting up a "wine buyers club?" Maybe we could all save some significant $$ buying in bulk, 10 or more cases at a time? I like to buy reds, mostly Italian, in the $8 - $12 range. |

I've found that Total Wine and More (and hey, that's exactly what I want, total wine and more!) by the Walmart and Home Depot on Rt22 has the best prices I've seen. They have a really good selection and good prices on liquor. When I was trying to remember the name of Total Wine & More, I saw this places web site, which is just on the opposite side of Rt. 22 from Total Wine. I've never been in there, but Shopper's Wines looks like it might be promising. http://www.shopperswines.com |

There is also a Total Wine in West Orange in the back of the Essex Green Shopping Center (by Shop Rite). They have pretty good prices, but not as big a selection as the one on 22E. |

Yes, Total Wine is the place I meant. I don't think the one in WO is still there. TW is really fun, they have lots of gourmet goodies and fun mixers. Mike will help with suggestions. He's turned us on to many new wines in our price range. |

Rapp's Beer in Irvington for kegs, cases, etc. Cheapest around. 6 bags of ice for $9. I think it was $10 cheaper than the first price I got for a keg of Bud. |

Total Wine & More on 22 East has the best prices and a great selection. I agree that Mike over there is a big help, and he will help you find something you'll like in any price range. |

In my experience, Wine Library has better prices than Total Wine (in West Orange, at least). My favorite white is Conundrum, I think I paid around $25 for it at Total Wine, but got it for $18 at Wine Library. |

does wine library sell beer? I didn't see any when I was there. Where's the best place to buy cases of beer cheap? My goal is the year to stock up my basement with wine and beer so I never have to run out and buy a six pack. Jeffl -- where's Rapp's |

Rapp Beer and Soda
1000 Clinton Ave. 973-399-8278 Until the Wine Library moves into more of its space, they don't have much selection of beer. I like Wines and More on Rte 22 (easier for me to get to than the one in Essex Green).
