Some friends and my wife and I have had an annual "Pesto Festo" for the past few years, making wonderful pesto by hand the old-fashioned way in the mortar and pestle (no food processors!). We have always used the usually bounteous basil crop of our friends but... This year we have had bad basil luck...is it the lack of rain, bad seed, we don't know what but we ain't got hardly any. We could go buy it but it just wouldn't be the same as Maplehood or S.O. grown and anyway, these same basil growing friends are moving to Oregon (boohoo...) so we need to widen the circle... If you have a bumper crop, we are doing this TOMORROW! Sorry for short notice but we would make you happy in mouth and tummy with wonderful hand-made pesto if you'd like to join us, probably early evening here in the 'Hood. Good vino, too... Yours in eager anticipation...and eat well, all. David |

I have a nice crop and I'd be glad to drop some off if you'd like. Unfortunately, I won't be able to stay for the fun! Maybe next year. PL me if you want some basil. |

Thankfully, I duplicated the original post under "Please Help" and met some new pesto fiends/friends!! Check that thread for an MOL success story... Shash, Thanks for the offer. BTW, SMT, is that basil free for the picking? I've seen it and admired it but never thought to ask. I'd not pick it w/o permission. Be well, all. David |
