Going to Voro for dinner tonight. After reading so many bad reviews we had decided not to go. Will let you know what we think.

We had a great time. did not have any of the entrees but all the tapas we tried were amazing. You have to try the crab cake.

You announced you were going to Voro after you had decided to not go because you read many bad reviews.

You said you were going to let us know what you thought.

And that was the review???

Saturday night was made extra special with very special personal service.

It's always a pleasure to be recognized with a big smile and welcoming hello especially when you show up at a restaurant without a reservation. Then your waitress greets you with a "Welcome back, would you like a Cosmopolitan and a Stinger up this evening?" What a memory...

It gets better, we're enjoying our meal when the owner stops by our table to say hello. During the brief conversation Libby remembers she forgot to pick up her pictures from Scotland at the drug store and David immediately offers to send one of his employees to pick them up for her... What we observed every time we’ve been there, (I think only 4 times) the owners and the staff seem to have a very personal relationship with all their guests. What a class act for our community.

BTW, VORO is now doing a Sunday Brunch. I assure you we'll be back to check it out; everything about this restaurant is top draw...

I couldn't disagree more about the owners and the staff having a very personal relationship with all of their guests. I wish I experienced that just once.

"I wish I experienced that just once."

I don't know how often you've been there, but the few times we have, everyone has been exceptional. Each time there was a friendly hostess at the door to greet us, an attentive waitress to serve us, and when we leave there has always been someone at the door to thank us and say goodbye.

Maybe you should mention something to the owners about your experience? I’m not a visionary or anything, but I would be willing to bet they will make it right for you if you do. Good luck and let us know how you make out…

I've been there 6-8 times and have outlined my experience(s) in another thread "I think I'm done with Voro"... I don't know how to link the thread, otherwise I would.

I have communicated to the staff about the service problems, but never to the owner and/or his wife.

And you're right...the hostess is always friendly and they always do say good night. It's everything in between that is the problem (except for the food itself...it is quite tasty).

Cubeless, why not try speaking with David and/or his wife next?

I found them to be very approachable and concerned about the image they project. I believe they are also South Orange residents, and thus would have another reason to see the village a desirable destination for folks in our community.

BTW, what specifically in between has been the problem when you visit their restaurant, or maybe you can just tell me where to find the other thread?

...thank you Brett.

"All of our experiences in the lounge have been the opposite..."

I see what the difference is Cubeless, my wife and I have not experienced the lounge scene. I really don't know what else to recommend other than speaking to the owners next time you're in, or just e-mail them. IMHO, they are the only ones who could make it right for you.

Thanks for sharing and good luck. Art
