Any local area suggestions? I'm in West Orange, and the only one that comes to mind is out on Route 10. Thanks!

Raagini on Route 22 East is nice. It's either Mountainside or Springfield.

There are a couple in Morristown as well (one of them is on the town square... is it Moghul?)

The food at Raagini is good, but when we were there the noise level was unbearable. I literally sat with my hands over my ears and couldn't wait to leave. We were in the middle of the main room, perhaps the little side alcoves are quieter.

Yes, they are. Good food, bad acoustics. I think it must have been a diner at some point, and then the Raagini owners converted it to a restaurant.

Neelam in Berkeley Heights is excellent. Moghul in Morristown is very good, but expensive.

Star of India in Kenilworth. The atmosphere is fabulous and the food is delicious.

I like Begum Palace in Madison, in the Staples shopping center on Route 124.

I second Star of India - fantastic Indian food. A friend of mine who grew up in England eating Indian food on a very regular basis said it was the best she had in the states.

Raagini's buffet is fantastic - best I've had in a long time. We were there for a relatively early Sunday lunch and didn't experience the high noise level.

We also tried Saffron on Route 10 but found them to be expensive and not as good. Palki's is also on Route 10 - near Home Depot. The food was average but it was less expensive than Raagini and Saffron.
