Looking to go away in early/mid November possibly - need somewhere warm and sunny. I'm trying to avoid hurricanes and the rainy season of most of the places I looked at. I just need a place that can serve me drinks that I'm too lazy to make at home while I'm sitting lazily on the beach somewhere....

I'm at a loss...Where should I go??

Aruba is always sunny and south of the hurricane belt. A bit too desert like for me, but not as windy as you may hear.

This is how we ended up bookling Lake Las Vegas the lst week of September. No rain, sun. Twenty miles from the Strip, so more relaxing. Pool, canyons, lakes, etc.

You can also try Scottsdale. Or, Dana Point, CA.

Last year my husband and I went to the Riviera Maya in Mexico (Playa Del Carmen to Tulum area), it is lovely and warm in November, and has plenty of beachfront all-inclusive resorts where nice people bring drinks to you on the sand. It rained once or twice for 15 minutes.

We went to Aruba on our honeymoon 2 years ago (end of October into beginning of November) and loved it. It rained a few times, but they were always brief showers and they never ruined the day. It's outside of the hurricane belt, so for the most part, it's safe (although I do remember last year they got drenched with the left overs of one storm. Anyway, it's not the norm.) It is pretty expensive, but I would love to go back.

Jennifer, can you be more specific about where you stayed in Riviera Maya? Can you specifically elaborate on the ones where "nice people bring drinks to you on the sand."

We stayed at the Royal Hideaway in Playacar- vacation virtually at www.royalhideaway.com! This was for our honeymoon, so we splurged, I highly recommend this place (also highly recommended on tripadvisor.com). It was all inclusive, including beach drink service, and not crowded. We booked it through Liberty Travel. There are tons of resorts in that area, that we passed by, that all looked very nice. The Yucatan was recently hit by a hurricane or storm, I just remembered, so it might be necessary to make sure they have recovered wherever you go.
