We had a wonderful dinner last night at Lot 15. Food was delicious, portions were more than ample and our server was very attentive. By an odd set of events, I also lunched there with a friend today and (see sentance above) it more than met our expectations. It was a bit disconcerting that we were 1 of only 3 tables last evening from 7:30 - 9. I had avoided Lot 13 because of negative posts when they first opened - but I would say that they have most definately worked out all the kinks. Please give it a try - this is a wonderful addition to town and I'd hate to see it go. |

well, nice to see they've turned it around. I was one of the posters who went there when it first opened and it was bad, bad, Leroy Brown. |

I sat at the bar on a Saturday early evening with a few friends about a month ago - the beers were cold, the bartenders were nice, and the restaurant was pretty packed with families. One of my friends ordered a salmon dish at the bar and he said it was really good - he was impressed with it. I just don't know why I never think of going there for dinner... I think previous posts about the price vs. service when it first opened up discouraged me even though I've heard good things since. |

I ate there with a friend two weeks ago and I had an excellent meal. The atmosphere and service was such a nice surprise. I had read bad things about it but it was empty and we were hungry so we went ahead anyway. Thank goodness. I have been talking it up since. Go this weekend! |

I second everyone who said the food and service there are excellent; as I told the owner the last time we were there, all that good is counterblalanced somewhat by a below-average decor/ambience for a restaurant with its level of cuisine, service and price; over time, I believe that will change for the better though; net net, I recommend that those of you haven't been there try it.

This thread is very interesting and upsetting. I will attest to the fact that Lot 15 is an excellent restaurant. However, when it first opened, there were many negative posts on this board, and they may have hurt this business get off to a strong start. Do you think some people avoided this restaurant because of the comments on this board? I do. I firmly believe it is wrong to do this, to become self-proclaimed critics, and have a hand in hurting a new business. For all we know, the critics could be competitors. I hope that you will all come to see my point of view about this. If you don't have anything good to say about a new business, say nothing. |

Elaine, I couldn't agree more. People criticize based on the actual fact but some people do that because they need the attention. They need to be acknowledge that they are better than others. It's easy to find faults but who can say they can manage the business better. People just like to pass judgement, I wonder why?

Pat & elaine, perhaps a few people avoided the place because of comments here, but I believe that MOL is a small subset of the community at large, and the Food thread a fraction of that, and this thread a fraction of that. It's a discussion board; people should opine away (without being nasty, but that's another subject). I doubt Lot 15 was worried about MOL's impact. |

There is a danger in overreliance on MOL reviews. But it is interesting to read them before and after I try some place, to see if my one experience resonated with others, or was unique. With Lot 15, the initial reviews made me hesitate, but when our book group was looking for somewhere else the reviews also made me think of trying it. Like Mwoodwalk, we found food to be good, ambience a bit sterile, pricing very high. Definitely worth going back. It is so easy to take a cheap shot on an anonymous board. But like with Dasti's or Lot 15 (or even the venerable Ver Jus at some points in time), the negative reviews are almost always quickly countered with positive ones, so on balance I think it is better than not to post reviews on MOL. I do think that all local businesses should respond to complaints on MOL because it shows their concern for customer service in a widely read forum. Freeman's has been exemplary in this, and it has built tremendous good will for them. |

Let me note at the start that I'm a fan and fairly frequent patron of Lot 15, and have written positive reviews about it from the start. There are many restaurants in the area, and I personally think that it is very useful to hear the opinions of others. This is a discussion board, not a chamber of commerce site. I can't agree with "if you can't say anything good, say nothing", when the topic in question are restaurants where I will be spending my hard-earned money and precious free time. No, I couldn't manage a restaurant better (so I don't try), but that doesn't mean that I don't like hearing customer reviews (and newspaper reviews) of places I'm considering trying. I think of this site in the same vein as recommendations (or criticism) passed along in the playground, school or place of worship. I'm an adult, and have the good sense not to rely too much on any one review, particularly when it seems to be written with a strong agenda (positive reviews can be false too, by the way). I'm also fairly forgiving of problems during a restaurant's "shake down cruise". I also am a member of the MOL community, and I know which posters I believe, and which ones I discount. I'm not so easily influenced by the hatchet jobs. I'm also willing to pass along my preferences and experiences (good and bad) in case anyone finds them useful. |

I don't get it...I was there recently and I thought the food and service was mediocre...and I'm not a competitor. No comparison to Jocelyne's, Verjus. Just my opinion of course |

Different niches, I think. I go to Lot 15 to get a steak and a mixed drink close to home, when the red meat craving hits. We find the steak very good, the drinks stiff, and the service much improved from early on. |

It's a very nice place, and I even like the decor. The staff is great, and they really try to make you feel at home. The menu's varied enough for just about anybody, and the music is okay too! |

Current profession: Marketer + professional Eater Former profession: Food Network employee + professional Eater 1st profession: Restaurant business + professional Eater I will tell you that right now, Lot 15 has done an EXCELLENT job fixing themselves from the original state. They have increased the menu selections, adjusted the prices to be more reasonable, warmed up the atmosphere and supervised the food quality more closely. I ate there on Wednesday night and was pleasantly surprised by all of the above. I like the owners and have had several discussions with them once they left Centanni's and opened Lot 15. Unfortunatly in the restaurant business, you only have 1 chance (MAYBE 2) to impress. If you fail, word spreads like wild fire and people don't come back. I shared my thoughts on their "soft opening" and what the potential impact can be on their business. I am VERY HAPPY they have made some VERY positive adjustments. I recommend this location and will return again soon. Cheers, MM |

Ate there tonight. Had the skirt steak. My wife had the roasted chicken. We were both very pleased. The wine list was a bit pricey which put the total, without tip, to $103. That included a martini. I guess we should drink less, huh? It's a nice addition to the area. |
