If you live in the College Hill part of Maplewood, don't bother calling Pizetta in Millburn for their "free delivery." They won't come. Yesterday evening I called them for the first time. Other folks in my family dined there before and liked it enough to bring home the menu. When I gave them my address in Maplewood, the first response was "We don't usually deliver to Maplewood . . . where is this?" (I thought they seemed close enough . . . and today I verified via mapquest that they are 3 miles and less than 10 minutes away). When I gave landmark locations for my address (between Prospect and Springfield), the guy shouted out the landmarks and got a "No way" response. He then got back on the phone with me to say "We don't delivery to that part of Maplewood. But you can come and pi-" That's when I hung up the phone. I don't even want to know what "that part" of Maplewood was all about. I hung up, so we can only speculate. I'm not exactly outraged, but mildy surprised enough that I thought my neighbors ought to know that Pizetta won't deliver to us. Why? Guess that's their perrogative. Mine is to never eat there again . . . and help ensure my wonderful neighbors don't waste their time with them either. Our next call was to our old fave Arturo's. So friendly, fast and yummy. What were we thinking? Pizetta menu went into the, ah, recycling -- this is Maplewood, after all. |

I don't think they want to deliver to Maplewood at all. We live near Millburn Ave and Valley and they won't deliver to us either. |

Your headline makes me think you're suggesting something sinister... as in they deliver to people farther away than you, but won't deliver to you because they don't like your neighborhood? The guy told you they don't deliver to Maplewood... why do you think he's trying to single you out? |

Gee, why would that be? Because they are obscene bigots, maybe? |

Or, maybe they just don't deliver to maplewood. Most places in Maplewood/South orange will not deliver to Millburn. But then again, people on this board are all about sensationalism, so I think that the reason they won't deliver to you is because they hate Maplewood for deep seeded reason stemming from an auto collision in the spring of 1947. |

Why would the teenager tell me that they don't deliver to "that part of Maplewood"? Look, they can deliver wherever they want. At the same time, I think whatever I want about it. Oh, and you are welcome to disagree with me, too. |

Well, didn't Tinga (just as an example) start by delivering just to parts of Maplewood? There are parts of SO that are just as close, but they opted not to. Then I think they added some areas, but my area isn't one of them. But I do get delivery from W Orange places that don't do many parts of SO. I think it has to do with perception of distance, real issues of traffice, etc and perhaps familiarity with certain areas. I wouldn't worry too much about it. |
