Went to D'Asti's for the second time in two weeks. Both times loved the place and wondered why it wasn't packed. The food was excellent. Better than the Trattoria. The prices were even lower than the Trattoria. A chicken dish, with a side of pasta and a salad was $13.95 or $14.95. The steak pizzialo was great. BYOB. Plenty of seating. No screaming kids. Others' thoughts? |

Oops. Just saw the other threads on this. Forgot to mention the service was great too. Give it a try. |

Like others, I've been staying away due to the bad reviews. I was scared off further when I walked by one night and there were no diners in the restaurant. However, I will now give it a try. I'll leave my screaming kids at home. |

You can have dinner for two for $40, easily, and then bring your own. Please report back! |

I've eaten there twice, and both times thought my meal was great, although I ordered the same thing (Chicken Florentine) because I thought it was so good. It's a nice place and I love BYOB's. |

Took the familia to D'Asti last Friday. I ordered the Clams Phillipo and it was very good. The wife ordered a steak and also enjoyed it tremendously. The rest of the food was solid if not spectacular. Our waiter was friendly and knowledgeable. The one complaint I have is the person who busses the table. I was enjoying the salad and calimari appetizer and she came back 2-3 times to ask if I was done. They also asked if they could bring appetizers out with the salad. This suggests to me that they're more interested turning over the table than customer service, which turned me off a bit. It's a Friday night, I had a harried week. When I'm paying for to dine, I would like to enjoy my food at a leisurely pace. If I want to be rushed, I'll go to the Maplewood Diner. Even they don't do it there. If anyone from D'Asti is reading this, if I'm bringing six diners to your establishment and we're all ordering, DON'T RUSH US! Other than that, I would go back. |

Finally went to D'Asti tonight and the food was fantastic - everything was delicious. I had the shrimp fra diavolo which was really good, even the sides (potatoes and zucchini) were excellent. Service wasn't so great - not horrible, just okay. I never got my olive oil to dip my bread in that I asked for twice, even though the table next to me did. It wasn't rushed at all, almost the opposite actually, I felt like we were waiting a lot. I also found it odd that people dressed in plain-clothes (adults and children) were going into the kitchen and coming out with plates of food. I'm guessing that maybe they were family, but it's still not really something you want to see. All that aside, it's definitely someplace I will patronize again, the food really was THAT good, though I might just order it to go. |

I like the food also, but I do not like the decor. When you peek in the door the interior really does not say homey and friendly. However the food is GOOD and cheap and it's BYOB. Check them out. |

Where Celebrated Foods used to be in Maplewood Village. I disagree with KWS, I actually really liked the decor - even commented on it to my family. I thought the sage green was very nice, very relaxing. Just goes to show how you can't please everyone, I guess. |

D'Asti is a bad name though; rhymes with nasty. |

I am trying my darndest to get to D'Asti's, but I have kids (they are not screamers, but the youngest has the potential, so let's err on the side of caution). In order to go, I will have to: 1.) Coordinate with hubby 2.) Find a night without school/family obligations 3.) Find a sitter. Someday soon, by golly.... |

Had a wonderful dinner there Saturday night with a 3 year old in tow - the place was packed! We were isolated on the lowest level so the child's antics went unobserved by other diners for the most part. The waiter was quick to supply crayons and paper before we asked. Food was good, plentiful and we went home with doggy bags cheerfully supplied. |

Tom - actually, the way our waiter was pronouncing it, it does. I thought it was "DAHsti", but he was saying "Dasty". I don't know if it was an accent on his part or if my pronounciation interpretation of the word was wrong. |

The "a" should be sounded like the "a" in father. You should also make hand gestures when you say it. |

Went there a recent weekend and it was just about empty. Service ok, food average to better than average but the decor - OH My God. I felt like I was in a hospital waiting room - light mint paint on walls, lighting that provided absolutely no atmosphere and no interesting art work on the walls. Really kind of strange how little thought seems to have gone into creating an inviting and warm atmosphere. I thought I was the only one who felt that way but others have told me they felt the same way. |

Yes, they made a beautiful restaurant into an ugly one...but the location is ideal. Parking is available in the lot off of Baker Street. Liquor store across the street to buy a bottle of wine for your dinner. I still say it's the best bargain in town and a good, not great, Italian dinner. |
