I know I’ve seen threads on local Indian food restaurants, but I feel like having Indian food at home tonight. Can anyone recommend a good local restaurant that would deliver in Maplewood? Thanks.

Since there isn't a good local restaurant that doesn't deliver to the area, finding one that does would be quite an accomplishment. |

Well, I am so in the mood that I would settle for a mediocre one... Also, while I know that most people are not too crazy about many local Indian places, I was hoping that someone would know of a little place that only delivers... wishful thinking perhaps |

See if this place delivers to Maplewood (though pickup at Neelam would be my choice): Calabash West Indian Restaurant Irvington 36 Union Ave New Jersey (NJ) Phone: (973) 416 6688

West Indian would be Carribean, not Indian. Neelam is hit or miss. I've had some okay meals there when I'm desperate for Indian, but the last time I got chicken tikka it tasted like they totally forgot to marinate it. The blandest piece of chicken I've ever had (although they didn't forget to dye it, so at least it looked pretty). |

Neelam has delivered to me before. I think it depends on how much staff they have. |

This may sound odd but, I really like the Indian food in the freezer section at Kings. There's one brand called Curry Classics - I like their tikka massala and curry chicken. Then there's another brand called Deep which are vegetarian and the sauces are very tasty. In place of naan, I usually get some handmade pocketless pitas and fry them up a little in a pan with some oil. You really need the bread with the Deep brand because it usually has a lot of extra sauce. |

There's a brand at Whole Foods and Kings that sells great tikki masala and vindaloo. Maya something. It comes in a tupperware container and you simmer chicken in it. We get naan and balsami rice at Trader Joes and are very happy! |

Oops. Didn't see that "West". By power of suggestion, we ended up getting take-out from Bukhara Grill last night (217 E 49th St between 2nd & 3rd). Yum. |

I was having dinner at Raggani in Mountainside and I saw a delivery car. I'm not sure if they deliver in maplewood. I know for sure the food is excellent. I've been going there for about 7 yrs now. Food is always excellent. Service is great |
