Want to sample fine food and wine from nearby restaurants--and, simultaneously support the construction of a new home for a woman and her family? If so, join us at the 9/27 Habitat for Humanity Newark Women Build Gala ("Harvest for the Home") at the Newark Club in Newark.

Some of the businesses that will be providing goods and services are: Buona Gente Ristorante, Hudson County Community College Culinary Arts Institute, Leagal Sea Foods, Mama Tucci, Millburn Whole Foods Market, New World Catering, Restaurant Serenade, St James Gate Publick House, Taste of Portugal, Trattoria Fresco, Ward's Coffee, Polander Selections, Ferry Wine & Spirits, Trinchero Family Estates, Tri Vin Imports and Gary's Wine & Marketplace. And, there will be a silent aution of original works by women artists.

One hundred percent of all proceeds will go toward building the house.

Tickets are $50 per person. Please send checks to Debbi Tompeck, 35 Butternut Lane, Basking Ridge, NJ 07920.

For more information contact Judy Mason (973.635.3623)(e-mail: Masonja1204@aol.com --put Women Build in the subject line).

Women Build is a group of local women who are building a house in Newark's Central Ward using only (or, almost only) women for fundraising and labor. Our partner family works side-by-side with us, putting in 400 hours of "sweat equity". We completed our first house last year in time for the family to move in before Christmas. This year's project is moving along and fresh volunteers are always welcome. (Contact Kathryn at Mskatcas@aol.com about scheduling dates to work as a volunteer.)
