I'm taking my twin daughters to see Beauty and the Beast for their 6th birthday this Saturday and we are wondering where to go for dinner afterwards. We will be going with another couple (childless) so there will be 4 adults and our 4 kids (ages 20 months - 6 years). We've been to Carmines and don't want to go again. We are looking for something around midtown, but we're flexible. My husband does not want to go to Hard Rock Cafe or Planet Hollywood. Any suggestions? Thanks. |

La Bonne Soupe comes to mind. It's a French bistro type place on 55th between 5th and 6th - you can get more than soup there -- everything from burgers to escargot. It's very unpretentious and comfortable. It just seems like the kind of place the parents will enjoy and their kids can get food they'll eat. I remember going there during high-school with my french class many years ago, and I've since brought colleagues there for lunch in more recent years. http://newyork.citysearch.com/profile/7143814/new_york_ny/la_bonne_soupe.html http://www.labonnesoupe.com/index.php (you can see menus on this one) |

Tony's di Napoli is a great, fun family style place in midtown. |

If you feel like going down to the Village, there's always the Cowgirl Hall of Fame. http://www.gocitykids.com/browse/attraction.jsp?id=1466

Love La Bonne Soupe. Also, a fun place for kids can be Mars 2112. It's pretty silly and the food isn't great, but I have to admit that I went with co-workers and thought it was fun. Kids ride a spaceship down to the dining area that is decorated like Mars. Aliens wander around and talk to the kids. |

Any kid, or grown-up kid, would love ESPNZone in Times Square. There are games on the top level for them to play and the downstairs eating area is AWESOME. Wall to wall TV's with sports. No kid would leave disappointed. |

You could try Mars 2112, but it might be more fun for older kids. They certainly have the most elaborate restaurant website I've ever seen: http://www.mars2112.com/about.htm |
