I could not wait to have something to add to this rea of the board. Just sorry it is not a good thing to share.
I've been going to Librettis for a long time. I don't even have to call for reservation. I know the owners well enough.
I recently had to just stop in for a minute and was very sickened to see some of the cleaning methods. Wiping talbe and floors with same rag To start with.
The food has never been my favorite. Perhaps my standards are too high and I miss the Hoboken/Jersey City food choices.
Options here are very slim. For me they just got slimmer. My husband will always go there. But without me now.

If you don't like the food, why do you go there?

We've been going to Libretti's before it was Libretti's through many owners and building changes. The present owner is the best, the food is the best and I'm sure the mistaken table-floor cleaning was not the norm. They put tablecloths on over the tables anyway. (Not that I like the idea of dirty rags on the tables.) What makes you think any other restaurant has different cleaning mistakes occasionally? Regina, if you know Danny so well, why don't you share your disgust with him? He would always listen to comments. By the way, my daughters both waitressed there for 2 years and they said they never saw anything like you suggested.

My husband and I like Libretti's because it reminds us of the old Hoboken places we used to enjoy. The food is really pretty good and the service is genuinely nice. I do check myself with the "aren't we too young to like this place" sometimes but I think that's just because the only time we can get away for dinner (but be back in time for little one's bedtime) is 6:30pm on Fridays.

I went to Libretti's for my 47th BD dinner. It was my 1st Time there, and my last. The food was just so so....I had shrimp scampi. They were skimpy on the shrimp and no pasta came with it. Everything was ala carte. I prefer the Village Trattoria in Maplewood! You can't beat their cooking and prices! Pasta and a salads are included with most entrees...

david - Libretti's is on Nassau Street in Orange - serves excellent Italian food - don't be put off by the area - it would not surprise me if the served Cacciatore on the bone. I know the Reservoir gives you the option.

Have you tried the Appian Way? It's in sort of the same neighborhood in Orange. I can't recall the street off-hand -Langford? Landford? One or two blocks in from Scotland road, just a bit past Montrose.

It's been a while since I've eaten there, but I recall enjoying our meal.

Appian Way is on Langdon St, between Tremont and Beech St. Take Scotland Rd to Tremont, make left and first left.

Great place, go there all the time.

Try Bella Italia right around the corner on Central Ave., just west of the railroad overpass.
Or ride up to Ravello's on Eagle Rock Ave. in East Hanover, just over the county line. Gianni Venturi sold Libretti's about 15 years ago and opened Ravello's, and it's very good!
