Looking for a good restaurant in SO/M that serves meatloaf, mashed potatoes and the like. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

St. James Gate in Maplewood. Have the Sheperds Pie ... and a pint of Guinness.

Their baked chicken w/mashed potatoes & roasted veggies is good too. The Gate makes the best mashed potatoes in our two towns!

Tuesday is stuffed pepper and tomato day at the Parkwood Diner. God, I love it, but you do have to order the mashed potatoes on the side. Almost as good as Mom's. And I don't say that often at all!

Any of the diners are good for comfort food. I hate to admit it but I love diner meatloaf.

But since Park Wood seems to be everybody's favorite diner, that would be a good place to start.

Niecy's or Heart & Soul in South Orange are fine choices for southern comfort food, which to me is the most comforting.

Neicy's or H&S do have the best comfort food around however, you will need to call either place to make sure what they have on the menu for the night and what they are out of.

Church's Kitchen on Springfield in Vauxhall is also a great place for Southern Comfort... food, that is. The Star Ledger just did an article on them. It's all takeout...so you can pick it up and enjoy in the comfort of your own home!

Morrow Memorial is having an All Saints luncheon this Sunday at noon. Menu includes homemade meatloaf and macaroni and cheese with warm cherry cobbler and ice cream for dessert.

I happen to know that the above mentioned meal is being prepared by BGS & her friends... if it's meatloaf you're craving, it's guaranteed good stuff!!

For those who may not know (hey moms and dads), one sure comfort bargain is the pizza buffet at Bunny's on Monday and Tuesday nights for $5.95 per person. Includes your choice of soup or salad.

We just got a flyer from Crane's during the Halloween parade that they are doing takeout "Dinner for Two" for 10.95 including sides - Mon-Fri a set (different) menu each night. One night was meatloaf.
