OK, BIG shout out to Dave for recommending the new place in West Ornge near Gimmee Jimmy's - it's called Phoenix House. We had:

Fried Veggie Dumplings: Oh good lord they were AWESOME!!! Big and plump, and not too gummy, with tons of REAL veggies inside - not all cabbage. And the dipping sauce was tasty and full fo ginger. Couldn't stop eating them.

Veggie Chow Fun - not greasy, but a little bland, which will easily be remedied by asking for extra sauce next time. Chock full of fresh veggies.

Sesame Chicken combo, with Pork Fried Rice & Egg Roll: The chicken was tasty, not greasy, not drowning in sweet sauce, but the pieces were so small that some became a bit gummy when fried. The rice was good, with nice fresh bits of pork in there. The eggroll was excellent - a bit greasy but so tasty I could ignore it.

All in all, this place is a hit, and with some special requests to adjust certain dishes, it will certainly be a regular for us. Especially those dumplings - I've GOT to go back for more. A bit of a drive but well worth it.

Thanks Dave! Any idea if they deliver to us?

Glad to help. I'll have to give the dumplings a try sometime. No idea about delivery.

Sounds like it is worth a try. I would bet it is easier to find parking there so not worried if it is slightly further (than B & H , where we usually go).

I haven't been there in a couple of years, but it used to be called Peking House. Does anyone know if it is still the same owners?

Hmm - did my eyes deceive me? Could it really have been Peking House? Now I'm doubting myself.

But go anyway, 'cause it's good!

Is it in the strip mall with CVS and Krausers?

It's called Peking House. I wouldn't reccomend the place as a sit down restaurant. The ambiance is a bit lacking -- overly bright with take out orders flying by all the time and just not pretty. But it would do in a pinch I guess.

I agree the food is the best Chinese in the area. Although, Ginger Taste is as good or better but it is Pan Asian.

Great Wall is the best chinese food in the area.

I prefer Hunan Garden right on Village Plaza in South Orange.

Glock 17: You have to be kidding. I took take out from there and the chicken was so rubbery I could practically bounce it off the floor. I am not here to undermine any of our town's businesses but Great Wall is your typical inedible low end Chinese Take Out.

What this town needs is a decent upscale eat in Chinese restaurant. I am surprised we don't have one ... and please no one bring up Family Buffet.

Peking House definitely delivers to Maplewood. We've been ordering from them for a few months - it's pretty good (still not JJ's).
