We are doing some home improvements and it looks like they won't be completed before Turkey Day. Any recommendations for restaurants? Thanks!

If you want to splurge, the brunch buffet at the Short Hills Hilton is, in my opinion, worth every penny. Really nice setting, GIANT selection, all top quality. Plus I'm sure they will have special music or something for Thanksgiving.

Just be warned that it will cost you a LOT of pennies.

Two places not so close but are great for the holiday:

The Grain House Restaurant at The Old Mill Inn in Basking Ridge. Go for the restaurant and not the buffet in the hotel.

The 1776 House in Old Tappan.

Both are historical buildings. Neither are cheap.

Many years ago (when I didn't feel like cooking cause I was "with child") we ate at the Black Horse Tavern in Mendham. It was quite nice. They still do a Thanksgving dinner according to their website. Phone number: 973.543.7300.
