Central Park ice skating! Christmas window shopping, Rock Center, cocoa (and martinis) in the bar at the Four Seasons hotel on 57th Street. I could go on and on....boys or girls?

theres also free ice skating at Bryant Park (you have to pay for skate rental). Bronx Zoo (they have a cool holiday light thing..if you get a reasonably mild night)...New York Botanical Garden has a whole schedule of kids and family events (we went to the Holiday Train Show...pretty cool how they re-create famous buildings and structures with sticks and leaves and twigs and the like)...we're going Friday at 2 to see a show at the New Victory Theatre (Chinese acrobats)...theyre a bit young for the Sony Wonder Technology Center I think.

Hank,

I took them to the train show last year. They loved it. The Chinese acrobats sound like a winner. Do you know if balcony seats are any good? They're only $10.00.

Da Lat,

Ive only been in the theatre once before and not recently...cant tell you if it is a good seat or not..but its not a large theatre.

I know you said no museums, but we also got flyers in the mail and email for a family program at the Newark Museum on Friday that looks like it might be amusing.

Had a subscription to the New Victory for a few years - a great experience. It's not a massive place. I would think balcony seats would be fine.

We still have a subscription to the New Vic. Love, love, love it....as you can tell it is heavily subsidized and the tickets are always cheap. The balcony seats are high up - but the acrobats would be excellent seen from a bird's-eye view. (We saw them last year.)

I don't have the link here but Google Wohlman Rink in Central Park. It is just north of 59th street towards the West side. (A hop, skip and a jump from those martinis...ahem - I mean cocoa!)

I should also mention that lunch at Virgil's is a must if you do the New Vic. It's very kid friendly, BBQ and within walking distance.
