Looking for a BYO spot (we drink a lot of champagne, would prefer to bring our own!) for new years eve, preferably with a prix fixe menu deal, etc. We had a great time at Celebrated Foods last year with a party of 6, but of course now its gone! (sniff!)

Any local spots (w/in 15 min) that you think fit the bill? Current thoughts = Lilac....?? Thanks!

Well, we're going to be open for New Year's Eve, just trying to decide prix fixe or ala carte. More info to follow soon.

Cafe Arugula is BYOB and very good. We recently took friends to dinner there, who've been to many top restauraunts (sp), and were quite impressed.

We're leaving the area soon, and will have dinner there before we leave.

FisherP, I was at Celebrated foods TOO last new years !!!???!!! What table were you at? Do you remember that OBNOXIOUS table off to the side making all the noise? Was that your party?

Pete do you plan on staying open through Midnite? Prix Fixe keeps the bill much simpler when the drunks are squaring up the bill at 1 AM.

My front porch is wide open. You can leave the champagne right in front of the door. Thanks and happy new year.

I wouldn't plan on Cafe Arugula. They don't seem to welcome late-stayers. One night I was there for dinner with friends and they started vaccuuming around us...and this was at 10:00pm on a weekend.

That happened to me too at Arugula!!

But if it's an early nite, their food is pretty good, so I won't write them off.

So, is Wish closed for good? That would've been a good choice.

pete@terra said he was going to post his plans for new years eve, has he done so yet? I have not seen the post, I hope it's not too late to get a reservation there, I love the fact that American Fare did ala carte menu's for NYE, but would love to check out Pete's menu either way.

Stubelou,

Thanks for the question. I was going to post up the plans tomorrow, so definitely check in. But in the meantime, it's not too late for New Year's and we still have some availability for Holiday Parties. So feel free to give us a call @ 973.763.4005.

More tomorrow.

Hello All,

Well, while posting a question re Christmas, I see that my menu post never made it up regarding New Year's Eve.

I decided that we will indeed be going Prix Fixe

As of today the menu looks like:

Choice of Apps: Mixed Greens w/ Warm Carmelized Apples and Goat Cheese; Oyster Po' Boy Salad; or Ancho-Spiced Baby Lamb Chops with Mango Salsa

Middle: Black-Eyed Peas (a Southern New Year's Good Luck Tradition)

Choice of Mains: Filet Mignon with Morel Sauce, 'Mashed' Celeriac and Potato, and Asparagus; Berkshire Pork Loin Chop with Stilton Twice-Bakied Potato, Baby Squash, Truffle Sauce and Shaved Truffle; Duck Two-Way: Pan Roasted Duck Breast, Confit Duck Leg, Sweet Potato and Baby Corn

Choice of dessert

Hope that helps, and whether we see you that night or not, have a Safe and Happy New Year.

Pete

Heart,

Give me a call @ 973.763.4005. I just want to make sure you're on the reservation sheet!

Since the last menu post, I realized that I didn't have a fish dish listed for an entree!

So, here goes, Apps we're adding in a Shrimp Bisque and a Charcuterie Plate. Middle, adding Hummus -- many cultures have a bean dish for Good Luck at New Year's, but Hoppin John is loaded with Ham, so we're giving a no-ham (and vegetarian!) option. For that Fish Main I mentioned, we'll be having Blue Corn Dusted Striped Bass with Coconut-Infused Jasmine Rice and Jalapeno-glazed Julliene Carrot.

Also, for those Giants fans out there that need to be home by 8PM, we'll be offering a short ala Carte menu for those dining 5-7. That way you can be in and out quickly and catch the game!

There is still some limiting seating available, so feel free to call at the above number.

Happy New Year to All, I have to go cook now!

Glad you added the fish and vegetarians option. If we didn't have three monsters celebrating with us we'd be there with our Dom Perignon!

Even on NYE, we could always be 'monster-friendly' at 5:30! Mac and Cheese, here we go!

Corcoran party of TWO! Your table is ready! Corcoran party of TWO!

Reminds me of when we were in college and would all get high go out to Steak & Brew in Bay Shore. We'd make a reservation for 6 people, last name Pott.

Then, at he appointed hour, you'd hear over the restaurant's PA system....

"Pot party of 6, your table is ready! Pot party of 6!!" Man, we'd go nuts laughing.
