I heard recently that Toro Loco is closing, or being sold. Anyone have any info? Maybe this is old news, and I somehow missed seeing it here?

I could not disagree more shanabana, I love Toro Loco. I think the food and athmosphere are really good there. The staff are excellent too. I really hope its not closing. |

Max, I agree with you and disagree with Shanabana emphatically. It is no culinary paradise but, interestingly enough, my wife and I recently had those shrimp fajitas and they were delicious!, blackbean soup, same and they are nice friendly people who provide good service. Also, they make me a margarita the way I like it w/ no complaints and a generous hand...lime juice, no sour mix, no attitude and yummy. I hope they don't close even though they only have boneless white meat chicken...so un-mexican...! Eat well and be well, all. David

Seems reasonably busy every time we are there (usually on random weeknights), but beyond that I have no information. |

The owner of Toro Loco has been entertaining offers since autumn 2004. Word is that one of the owners of the old Stuft Shirt (housed where Lot 15/ South Orange Cellar is now) who has an interest in Quincy's is probably going to buy it. |

Pete and Gail Davis a wonderful local couple in town and a excellent addition to the resturant destination in our village. |

This is truly sad news. We've been to Toro Loco more often than any other local restaurant. Service is excellent, food is great, and it's perfect for a large group. The place is always packed... I can't believe business was bad? Maybe the offer to buy was just too good?

I'll hold my breath, but I like having a good margarita close to home, along with food that isn't burgers or pizza, so I fear that I'll miss Toro Loco. Hope I like the new place better than we liked the Stuft Shirt (in its later days we found it to be a classic one-visit restaurant). Still, I love spending my dining dollar in town, and am early to try any new place, especially those who can make me a drink! So if the owners of Toro Loco have indeed decided to move on to other things, I'll wish them well, go in for a last round of 'ritas and fajitas, and get ready to try the new place. |

IF the Quincy's refered to is the one in West Orange, I will be very disappointed. Quincy's is a low end TGIFridays. |

Please note the accuracy of my recent Toro Loco prediction: http://www.southorangevillage.com/cgi-bin/show.cgi?tpc=62746&post=496597#POST496 597 Further: Mr. Davis will need your patience during the early weeks of his tenure at the present TL. His changeover to a new concept will be somewhat inhibited by menu confusion and no small amount of messy "inside baseball" issues. Also, his longstanding & chummy relationship with the management of a local S.O. pizzeria/tavern is about to hit a snag. Go in peace. --The Oracle of MOL |

I hope this is not true. Toro Loco is fine, but the Stuft Shirt was as bland as bland could be. I hope Tl stays and keeps a little spice in SO. |

Whoa so much speculation. Toro Loco is not CLOSING, and if anyone has any qusetions pertaing to the business, they should ask Teresa themselves. We are alive and well, since 1988, thanks for all your concerns. |

A fairly UNreliable source told me over the summer that the family that owns Toro Loco was packing up and moving to CA by the end of August. Obviously, and thankfully, that did not happen. I love Toro Loco, the atmosphere, the food, the drinks, the staff. Sure it might not be a "culinary paradise", but it is what it is, and it's reliable and consistant, and I like that. |

So spw784, algebra, veritas and the Oracle are all sipping from the same sources of false rumor it seems. Glad to hear that the rumor seems to be false. We've been here nearly 10 years, have enjoyed plenty of meals at Toro Loco, and hope to enjoy many more. Now, I would love to see a menu of moles and tequilas like the one at El Agave, in San Diego. A girl can dream, right? Time to start vacation planning... http://www.elagave.com/ |

Sorry for the mis-information. I will mention to my co-worker that she was wrong about Toro Loco. I've been in there a few times, although not in the past few years. I have nothing bad to say about it, was just curious about what my colleague had said.
