The little restaurant that has replaced 'Taste of Asia' gets an A mark in every category from me. When you walk in the atmosphere is great...with two massive fishtanks and not only tables and booths...but two 'traditional' syle stitting rooms as well. The service was quick and always friendly...and even the manager/head chef came around once to make sure everything was well. The food was delicious...not tiny portions here...it was hot and plentiful. (A hint: The beef negimaki is amazing) The sushi was top of the line...(Their cuts of yellowtail are quite good). I would recommend this restaurant to everyone...I hope stays open so that I may make a second or third trip there.

Agreed Glock. We have found it to be the best sushi in the area, haven't tried much of anything else but haven't needed to. Our kids love the tatami rooms as well.

I would like it even more if I could walk there!

We had dinner there last thursday evening and it was packed. There were 6 of us and we literally ordered for 12 and everything was perfect.

I have posted before about Ariyoshi but because I enjoy the food so much I will again ... when Linda, the owner, ran Dai Kichi in Upper Montclair for many years we were regulars (the only Japanese restaurant we would eat at) - I could not be happier she landed in SO soon after we moved here ... funny how things happen.

We ate there Saturday night and enjoyed it tremendously. The bento boxes have so much food in them. They were kind to our food-challenged friend, substituting where needed. Can't wait to go back.

Can they make sushi with brown rice? I know some people are whole-heartedly against that, and that's fine, but I'd love a good sushi place that uses brown rice.

I found the sushi to be better than the food BUT I also thought the food was overpriced, service mere adequate.

I bet they could make brown rice sushi, Strings. I'll try to do so soon.

I like the atmosphere at Ariyoshi. It's so sedate. Samurai Sushi is too busy for me.

Ate there Friday night - food was excellent. Took the 4 year old - as usual they were very accommodating.
