I had saved an article from the 1/1/2006 Sunday Star Ledger on "NJ's Top 10 Restaurants" and was just finally reading it. It is critic Cody Kendall's top 10 for 2005. I was so thrilled to see a Maplewood restaurant on the list. Lorena's (formerly Jocelyn's) received a 4-star rating and was his #2 pick! That's pretty impressive! I did a search here to see what MOL has to say about Lorena's, but found nothing. Any of you guys tried it? I think I will have to check it out.

Ah, searched again and found some feedback. Must have misspelled the first time. Sounds like a great place!

Wife and I had dinner there early in December.
Meal was delicious. Ambience was very charming. It was like being on vacation, we don't often treat ourselves to such a place.
We had a little wait for our table to open up (due to lingerers--that's the price of success). Lorena (what is the proper spelling anyway) was very apologetic, and her chef, fiance, tided us over with some great little snacks to go with our wine.
They're a very nice, hard-working couple and are great hosts. Definitely go there.

Ate there Saturday night. Great food. Gracious service. A welcome addition downtown.

Jocelyn's was the best restaurant in the area, and the equal of many fine restaurants in NYC. Lorena's has not missed a beat, and the couple who runs the restaurant are personable and charming.

We eat there all the time. We loved Jocelyne's. I read that her husband is now running the kitchen at the Highlawn Pavillion and really turned it around. As good as Jocelyne's was, Lorena's is even better. They're great people and I think it is one of the best restaurants in New Jerseyi
