Did anybody attend this? With all the comments regarding SHU's involvement (or lack thereof) with the community, I'm curious what was discussed.

Heck, I didn't even know it was scheduled. Was it only posted to the site?

There wasn't much talk on campus about this meeting. That is most likely part of the problem. I could not go because I was up to neck in work and responsibilities with extracurricular activities.

We received no notice about the meeting either--and SH certainly had our address, as we attended two different meetings with them last year.

I happened to hear about the meeting at another function I was attending that same night. Went to see if it was still going on a bit before 10, but it looked like it was over.

Haven't heard any neighbors talking about it, so I'm not sure how well attended it was.

Signs were up in the So. Orange Library on our bulletin board, but you would have to have come in to see them.

Lady, why not consider a community service, in future postings here of what is posted there.

DM.. I would truly like to , but if I did I couldn't do in on Library time> I am sure you have read all the nasty posts about me posting instead of "doing my job". I really don't want to make myself vunerable to that type of criticism again. And if I post during my break, like I am doing now, I might spill my coffee on the town computer and I would hate to have to pay for it

My visual filter eliminates any nasty posts, except those about me.
Secretly send the SHU posts to someone, and I will somehow find out about it, and, just maybe, will post the info.
By the way, SHU, pronounced "shoe" is the acronym for the Special Housing Unit in federal jails.
Usually filled with sociopathic criminals who crossed a clearly drawn rules and regulations line in jail.
Such as drinking, drug use, foul language to staff, refusal to obey orders from staff, refusal to work, fighting.
I just thought you ought to know.

I would have to believe that the posting of relevant township meetings, info, flyers, etc. could well fall within the job description of town librarian. You would figure that this wouldn't take more than 5-10 minutes per day, possibly per week. There could be a separate thread set up just for postings relevant to meetings etc. NOT for discussion, just a calendar perhaps.

I have an idea, why doesn't SHU do a mass mailing with out zip code? The Gaslight does it. Unless they don't want residents to show up to hear problems and concerns.

Dave already maintains a calendar on MOL where anyone who likes can post a community event. Jamie then sends out a mailing to all registered readers lisitng the events occurring that week.
It might be good to remind all organizations that you are associated with of this opportunity.
