When it is raining cats and dogs, it is the cats who reign and the dogs who get wet. |

Love dogs. Love cats. Currently in a 2 cat household. I dearly want to get another dog but the spouse says I'm nuts. Our freedom to travel will be trashed! etc.etc. I counter that the only way I'm going to exerise is if I have to walk a dog a few times a day. Spouse notes that dogs require very early am walks, late nights, and it all sorts of weather. I think my need is really more emotional than intellectural, but, still, I want a dog! |

mtierney, my wife warned me that she would not be taking the dog out, even though she is home more than I am. Her attitude changed the moment we picked up Red. Of course, I can't guarantee the same will happen with you, but if you think you'll manage all the work, you'll get the benefit, as you described. And there are plenty of dog walkers available, and there's a kennel for boarding. My mother and also a friend offered to board our dog, since they've fallen in love with him. Katy, did you take that course at SOMS with me? There was a woman with a cairn terrier named Ernie. I'm the guy with the greyhound. Tom Reingold There is nothing

From....http://www.freeholes.com/joke/critters-dogsvcats.html Why Dogs are better than Cats 11. Dogs come when you call them. Cats take a message and get back to you when they are good and ready. 10. Dogs look much better at the end of a leash. 9. Dogs will let you give them a bath without taking out a contract on your life. 8. Dogs will bark to wake you up if the house is on fire. Cats will quietly sneak out the back door. 7. Dogs will bring you your slippers or the evening newspaper. Cats might bring you a dead mouse. 6. Dogs will play Frisbee with you all afternoon. Cats will take a three-hour nap. 5. Dogs will sit on the car seat next to you. Cats have to have their own private box or they will not go at all. 4. Dogs will greet you and lick your face when you come home from work. Cats will be mad that you went to work at all. 3. Dogs will sit, lie down, and heel on command. Cats will smirk and walk away. 2. Dogs will tilt their heads and listen whenever you talk. Cats will yawn and close their eyes. 1. Dogs will give you unconditional love forever. Cats will make you pay for every mistake you've ever made since the day you were born.

Have you dog owners no dignity??? You, the highest members of the food chain, following a mangy cur around and picking up their feces!?!?!? It's just awful. The depths that people will stoop for a bit of companianship is truly sad. You have my sincerest condolences and I hope you can get some self-respect before your time comes. Scooping poop is no way to spend you formative years here on earth. _______________ Do Not Pass Go |

Tell me about it. I had to stoop lower than ever last night. My cur woke me up at 3:59am and had to go out! I want to know why he had to go out at that hour, but he's not telling. Tom Reingold There is nothing

Um... do those little white furballs count as dogs? I'm never sure that they aren't cats in dog suits... Love them both- we have 3 cats. If we were home more & had a larger yard to fence, we would also have a dog. A real one. With a "woof" that commands respect. That does not have the word "yip" in it's vocabulary.

We have a greyhound. You can never let a greyhound off a leash unless it is in a fenced-in area. We have a tiny yard and no fence, so we only walk him on a leash on public property. It's not so bad. Tom Reingold There is nothing

I love westies - two of my sisters have them and they are such characters. I would have gotten one but I wanted to rescue, so I have Jack the greyhound, faithful friend of Red the greyhound, and he is the coolest dog. He has very bad gas sometimes - we're thinking of donating him as a weapon of mass destruction. |

I love cats as well but in comparing the two (at least for the title, "Mans best friend"), I only have this to say: I haven't seen any seeing eye cats in my day !!!. |

Ukealalio: True, I haven't heard of any service cats but then I haven't heard of any house cats being charged with murdering people either. Dogs can display a wide range of behavior. They are also much more susceptible to training by humans than most cats.
