I am told that I should videotape the walls of my new addition construction before the sheetrock goes up.

The primary reason is to see where the studs are so as to be able to find them when the walls are closed. Secondarily, it seems to be good for insurance needs.

I need to borrow a MiniDV camera because mine is broken and being repaired, MiniDV because I have a VCR that uses these small tapes.

I'll provide the tape--could someone let me borrow their MiniDV video camera?

Many thanks and be well, all.

I have never hear of this.
It's a good idea to take photos for prosperity sake. But all the studs are 16" on center. If you can't read a tape measure get a stud sensor.
Insurance reasons? Why? Wood is wood, siding is siding.
My advice..... Don't waste your time. Take a few pics and call it a day.

For insurance reasons, it is a good idea to do a walking tour of your house with a video camera. Lay out jewelry on a dark cloth and take close-up shots of items that are not covered by a separate rider. Giving a play-by-play oral discription of all household items, electronic equipment and bric-a-brac, would surely help if there was a catastrophe at your home.

Having said that, anyone have a video camera we could borrow?

When do you need it, David? Give my brother a call and we'll work something out for today or tomorrow. Are you in Manhattan today?
