We recently moved in and would love to know a decent kosher deli within driving distance.

There's one in West Orange and Livingston don't remember the names but if you get a phonebook from those areas you should be able to find them.

There's a striking dearth of good kosher delis around here. The one that Uke might be referring to is Eppes Essen, which is Kosher style, not kosher. Another kosher style closer to home is Tabatchnick's in the Millburn Mall in Union. I believe there is a kosher deli on Mountain Avenue in Springfield, but the best one around is Harold's on Rt. 46 in Parsippany.

Fat Pauly's on Route 10 in Livingston is strictly kosher and has good deli as well as the usual assortment of traditional dishes.

The Essex Green Shop-Rite has a separate kosher deli counter within the store, as well as a kosher foods aisle.

Let's not forget the mighty Cafe Sbenois, conveniently located in Maplewood's military-industrial complex. Strictly Kosher (unless you're picky about the milk/meat thing..), and offering some of the tastiest fare in the county, served up for you by Raoul and his very customer-friendly staff, all properly attired in latex gloves and hairnets. Mmmmmmm, those Yumsters! Go! You can thank me later...

BTW: Happy Chanukah!

Temple Beth El every Saturday at noon. You can't beat it.

And it's cheap.

Hey, it also wouldn’t look good coming out of a motel with your wife’s best friend saying you were just planning a surprise birthday party for her husband...- Arturo November '03

Tabachniks is kosher-style, rather than kosher, as mentioned above, if it matters to you.
