Folks:
Got a call two nights ago from Total Gas & Electric, Inc. http://www.totalnrg.com/
claiming that they could save me money on my
gas bill by switching to them as the supplier.
PSE&G would still continue to service and deliver
the gas, etc. This is supposedly kosher under
the new rules of deregulation. I am wondering if
anyone has made a switch and if so, what your
experience is/was with it.

FYI, here is a list of gas suppliers who "cover"
the PSE&G area:

p.x.,
i switched to total gas and electric last year. the following was my experience:
a. their prices were higher than pse&g.
b. their costumer service was unbelievably bad. you would made a call to speak to someone in customer service and they were always busy. some guy would eventually call back after playing phone tag for a long time. you see you can't call them directly. they return your calls only. so that means that you have to sit by the phone waiting for their call. the person who finally contacted me laughed and laughed about me monitoring my calls. said something like i was acting like someone from california. you get my drift. dealing with this person and company was for me like being was on another planet.
c. they have an equal payment plan that takes about three to six months to set up.
d. changing back to pse&g took about 3 months.
e. when dealing with them i felt like either electrocuting or gassing myself.

Here is my thinking on it ...

How can someone else, using PSE&G's delivery system provide the same utility (natural gas or electric) for less money?

On top of which you get into the same problem (the ones barbara had) that we've dealt with re: telephone for years....its never the person you call, they have someone else to blame.

Just my 2cents
