quote:Congratulations! You have received a private message from the following discussion board user: Guesswho ----------------------------------------------------------- Kindly delete my handle and information from your website. It is obvious that the "moderator" doesn't moderate, but rather takes sides and allows lies and inuedos to be posted about posters that he disagrees with. I'd like to say it's been a pleasure, but... It ain't.
My dang Lie Detector has been broken all week, but at least my spellchecker picked up on inuedos! :-/ This is the topic where everyone can give me some input on doing a better job w/r/t moderating. I don't pretend to be impartial, but I do think that the best answer to most problems is more discussion rather than censorship. Talk amongst yourselves.... |

Dave, I think you do a very good job moderating. Considering that ultimately this is YOUR place and you can make whatever rules you want, you have generally been fair. If Guesswho can't handle that & decides to leave, we'll all be much better off for it. P.S. I know that bets feels that Guesswho is SM, but his latest whine of "i quit" reminds me an awful lot of the last time someone from Village Hall posted on here & then quit in a huff. |

[sound of door slamming again] Well, as the message is essentially what you already posted online, I didn't think it much mattered if I let your words lead off a discussion about my innability to be fair here. Also, please note: I don't delete "handles." If you log into your profile, you can delete it yourself or simply stop using it. edited to add: Mayhewdrive: thanks. I don't know who SM is and don't care to start guessing. My sense is that there are still many people new to online communities and many of them think I can know everything (eg. have a lie detector). With that said, it's better if people not try to guess who people are because from what I've experienced, the guess is always wrong. |

Dave.. I think you do a fine job. The TOS are pretty straight forward and its like I said before. If you get caught speeding many times the first offense is a warning or the cop even lets you drive right past him. But if you speed repeatedly you will get ticketed over and over again. I think that is all that happens here. Some posters just require a shorter leash is all. "You miss 100% of the shots you don't take" Wayne Gretzky

Dave, You 're a real mensch. This is a tough job and you have demonstrated humor and patience. Without your energy, where would we all be? Thanks! |

I'm not sorry I attempted to out Guesswho. Public officials have a greater responsibility to the community, even on a non-official site such as Maplewood Online, and it seems to me that the opinions expressed here pretty much match the antagonistic vituperative BS that comes out in trustee meetings. Mark, Patrick, and Alan take some serious heat here, and for that I commend them (though I rarely agree with them). Dave, I think you and Jamie run one of the best online communities in which I've ever participated (the other being one I helped to found). We're all very lucky to have it. * ** *** **** We can't handle the truth, because if you handed us the truth, we'd hand you over to the authorities!

Bets, Bets, Bets This just in from my buddy..Guesswho, ..Maybe you ought to listen to ol' Davey boy who wrote (and I quote) With that said, it's better if people not try to guess who people are because from what I've experienced, the guess is always wrong. Much as you think you know who GW is, let me assure you I am NOT a trustee, related to any trustee or in intimate contact with any trustee. The trustees probably know my face, but would be hard pressed to put a name to it. You, on the other hand, do know me. We converse, on rare occassions. Not sure if you know my name or not, but that doesn't really matter. Sorry to burst your bubble, honey, but ..such is life. -30- That's the message Guesswho sent for me to post. Doubt I'll hear from GW again. |

Dave, I think you do a fine job and, like so many of us here, I'm very grateful. I wish there was a "3 strikes, yer out" policy... but obviously that would be next to impossible to enforce. |
