Used to live there and IMO, sadly there are none. There is great Thai (Thai Chef on Bloomfield) and a ton of good Japanese places, however. |

Marian - I'll take sushi/japanese recommendations, too! I've been to a good Thai place in Montclair, but I can't remember the name (or the precise location, frankly....) Thai Chef wouldn't be the only one, would it?

We liked Wah Chung (across from the Watchung Ave train station, get it?) when we lived there, but it's strictly take out only. |

There are two very good restaurants in Montclair I can think of. Nouveau Sushi and Taro. Nouveau Sushi opened this past summer, the chef used to work at Nobu. Taro has been a staple there for awhile, they are Asian eclectic. |

Amandacat - thanks for the tip. we are actually going for lunch looking for something between take out and fancy-schmancy. Littlebirde - those sound perfect, I might try Taro as my boyfriend doesn't dig sushi |

Oh, Mr. Zona, who are you the next Tom Prissy Pants? Do you ALWAYS have to know something about EVERYTHING? And my eyebrows are fine, thank you very much.

Shh...I keep most things to myself in here, even my opinion of your eyebrows...but am always willing to share my opinions face to face, as you know. Oh and youd probably like Taro too. |

Taro is the place that my brother-in-law has named "Grand Theft Tofu." |

Pippi, I like Taro too, but it's a bit on the fancy side. There's a simplier Japanese place on North Fullerton right off Bloomfield. Forgot the name, but it has good cooked stuff too. (My hubby won't eat sushi :-( Thai Chef is not the only Thai place in town. There's another Thai restaurant right down the block called Tuptim but I don't think it's nearly as good. |
