Thanks, but no luck. Neither is in my plan and since we are already spending $900 per month for another doctor we need to find one in our plan. Any other suggestions. |

Very very few pediatric psychologists and as far as I have found out -- no (zero) pediatric psychiatrists are in any of the networks in central or north Jersey. Dr Dante Mercurio (psychologist, he's northwest of here in Caldwell, I think, is a provider in some networks). You may be able to find a social worker -- I've dealt with one or two who were excellent (a few years back in another town). Unfortunately mental health coverage is a travesty under most plans. You could be in luck if the NJ Mental Health Parity act applies -- that is, if there is a biological/medical issue -- then most (but again, I found that plans are finding a way around this law) -- are required to pay the same benefits for psychological and psychiatric treatment as for "regular" medical issues. Ask to speak directly to your case manager at the insurance company. And get it in writing if they do agree to cover you. If I can be of any help, feel free to private line me. Pete |

Again, sportsnut, I don't know exactly what you're looking for but we just conluded a series of neuro-psych tests with our 8 y/o boy with Ilyse O'Desky, also at 28 Millburn Ave. He really connected with her, and that's no mean feat for him. She doesn't work with many, if any, plans anymore but mine sure reimbursed quickly on the 80/20. P/L me if you need more or her phone #. |

You also might want to try Dr. Steve Tobias, in Morristown -- 973 898-0505. Children's psych. is his specialty. He also co-wrote a book on the subject. He is wonderful, kind, etc. Not sure what insurance he takes, though, but nonetheless an excellent source of help and comfort. |
