I have scoured the internet and decided that I need to see them in person before purchase - where do they sell (finished) kid's tables and chairs and toy chests in the area? Am looking for Pottery Barn type quality and look. Thanks much!

The stuff we bought at Ikea looks good and has been pretty sturdy over the long haul. The simple, cheap pine beds purchased 8 years ago were supposed to function as a bridge from toddler to regular beds but are still going strong. If you've never been to Ikea (Elizabeth, NJ), try to go on a weekday or as early as possible on a Sat. or Sunday. By noon, the place is so croweded you can't breathe.

I saw some nice tables and chairs at BabyLand in MIllburn. They're displayed up high above the toy shelves - around $200 for a set if I recall. BTW - BabyLand is great for a lot of kid-realted stuff. They repair strollers and sell new ones - when my youngest was in the inbtween stage of almost ready to stop the stroller, I opted to replace the worn-out wheels on my $5 Maclaren tag-sale stroller for around $100 instead of springing for an entire new stroller for $400. THe staff couldn't have been nicer and there was no pressure to buy a new one.

We had an Ikea table and chairs that looked great and did the job for a few years, but it didn't hold up once we had two kids. Got all wobbley and eventually the leg just broke.
