Anyone have any ideas on a good way to hide light scratches in oak hardwood floor. They do not need to be redone, we just have a few light scrathes that we want to hide if possible. |

Sylad, How was the floor originally finished ... if its polyeurathane, you can sometimes (I've had mixed results) just do a very light coat at the scratch and its gone. If you have old 'oil finish' (which isn't right) floors (that you manually wax) then there are a couple of products by SC Johnson (you can get them at the Sears Hardware (Essex Green) that might work for you -- sadly I know what the bottles look like but can't remember the names.

I keep a can of stain around, lighter than the floor. When I get a scratch I dab some stain in until I match the color, then a dab of the Poly. Poly alone will often leave a light mark. Never be afraid to try something new. Remember, amateurs built the ark; professionals built the Titanic. |
