As you may have read in the school newsletters, our reverse book fair "Reading =Success" will return in 2004! The response from the teachers and administration was so incredibly positive, we just have to do this again!

The Junior Woman's Club and the Community Coalition's Schools Committee have again agreed to partner with community volunteers on this wonderful project. The book collection is set for the month of March, with the fair for district elementary school teachrs to be held mid April.

Last year, we flew by the seat of our pants -- and put over 2000 books (wonderful quality and selection) in 50 classrooms and directly into the hands of children through the Parenting Center. Imagine what we could do with a wee bit of coordination!

To that end, I hope you'll join me for a cup of coffee and a meeting (to last no more than 1 hour!) at NetNomads Cafe on the corner of Prospect Ave. and Springfield Ave. in Maplewood at 9:30 on Saturday, January 10. (There's a municipal parking lot diagonal behind NetNomads on Prospect.) Our task will be to ensure that we have all of the schools and key collection areas in our two towns covered, that we have a plan for setup and breakdown of the actual fair, and do effective outreach to teachers. We might even want to do some extra PR this year.

The beauty of this project - other than the results! -- is that you get to do just how much you want to and its still a success. I say that its very "chunkable." The task is just to know who is holding what chunks!

If you'd like to join in this project, please join us for a 'cup of joe' and some brainstorming on the 10th!

If you can't make it, but want to participate, send me a private line. We'll save you a chunk!

Barbara
