can anyone recommend a doctor (family practice or basic md - not a specialist) in the area that accepts oxford. we have a doctor and are unhappy with the office hours. the doctor is just okay, so there is no incentive for us to stick with him and put up with the bad office hours.

Dr. Orenberg and Dr. Jacobson accept Oxford. They're at 1985 Springfield Ave. in Maplewood, and I highly recommend both.

All doctors at Summit Medical Group take Oxford.
While it is a bit farther away, it is very convenient to have a doctor or specialist available at any time.

I went to Doug Roth and thought he was pompous and wasn't listening to my concerns. I never went back. My wife had a different experience and thought he was ok. Everyone has a bad day?? I think I'm going to try Dr. Orenberg.

Sully- I'm sorry you had a bad experience with Dr. Roth. I'm with Maplemom; I think he's great. In fact, sometimes he "overlistens" (ha ha). I've never had a time when he rushed me or didn't listen or got impatient with me. I've gone in for an allergy rx refill & he always reads the whole chart & asks me follow-up questions from the last visit, whether it was with him or someone else in the group.

I work in the pharma industry & usually go in with my own information & ideas. He always listens to me & even expresses interest when I come up with something he hadn't read.

Also, being in the Short Hills office, he is very convenient.

Mallory - the nice thing about Summit Med Group is that you don't have to worry about your medical records; every visit to a specialist (eyes, derma, x-rays, etc) go onto your chart for your primary doc automatically. They also have a weekend urgent care walk in center. About a month ago, my bronchitis got very bad & I started running a high fever. I went to the urgent care center on a Sunday morning. I had an x-ray & all lab tests, an emergency nebulizer treatment & was back home in bed in 2 hours.

Also the medical group at 349 Northfield Ave in Livingston. (987) 535-8311

My personal doc is Dr Pandya, have also seen the others this past year -- can recommend them.

Its also one of the only doctors offices I've been to that keeps pretty much to scheduled times.

You could always logon to Oxford and do a search at https://www.oxhp.com/cgi-bin/corporate/auth/auth_nav.pl?User=MEMBER&App=HOME.

OTOH, it is nice to have recommendations from people.

Check to see which Oxford you have--Summit Medical (and many other local physicians)takes Oxford's Freedom plan, but not Oxford Liberty.

Summit Medical Group *always* screws up my bill. You have to watch them like a hawk.
