"Garden State," the independent production of South Orange's own Zach Braff, is heading to Sundance. I believe parts of it were filmed in or around the area.

At least one web site I found said it should be in theaters in March.

yes he did - it's amazing how many talented people who actually "made it" have come out of Columbia - Lauryn Hill, Max Weinberg, Elizabeth & Andrew Shue, Robert Verdi, that guy who did Jar-Jar-Binks in Star Wars, ... I'm sure there's more... someone else... take it!

Actress Teresa Wright and the guy from Jaws and All That Jazz - can't think of his name. CHS once had a hall of fame set up, don't know if it is still there.

CHS's hall of fame is still up and running. Last years' inductees were production designer Jane Musky and astrophysicist Dr. Charles Coleman

I think that one of these years someone should look into nominating Joel Silver.......he's a CHS grad who made good - pretty spectacularly.

One of the requirements for induction into the CHS Hall of Fame is that one have set a good example as a CHS student. I have heard that Joel Silver did not qualify on this ground. In fact, someone once told me that his behavior as a student was so reprehensible that many senior staff members, who had known him at CHS, had jointly vowed to resign if he were ever to be elected to the Hall of Fame.

I don't know exactly what it was that he did or didn't do that got him this reputation. And maybe all those staff members have retired by now anyway. But the requirement is still there.

I've served on the HOF committee for a few years now, before graduating. Silver's name has come up, sometimes persued, sometimes not. Sometimes he wouldn't return calls. Sometimes I try to convey messages without flat out saying them, since it's technically not supposed to be said...

Thanks for the clarification, colmbiastudent. I guess it's possible that the lack of fond memories is mutual. I have plenty of empathy for anyone who doesn't cherish their high school experience. It would be interesting to see if there's a change in response as the years pass.

Another requirement for Hall of Fame induction is that one be willing to come to the induction ceremony. Joel Silver may not qualify on that ground either.
