What do you usually tip for pizza and Chinese food deliveries? Do you go by percentage of the bill or do you just give them the same no matter how much you ordered? If so, how much do you give? Three or four dollars? More? Less? Thanks, Mike |

Most of the time I'll round it up, so it's at least 3 or 4 bucks, but if it comes really fast I'll give $5. We usually pick up pizza, but I've had Samurai Sushi deliver and the new Chinese place on Springfield too, and both came pretty promptly. |

On average, about $4. But if it's the first time they're delivering and we want them to remember us, or if they always come very quickly and we want them to continue the trend, we'll up it. |

whoa...i thought $3 was pretty generous, I usually give $2!? Maybe I am out of the times a bit here. Do you find you get better performance from your delivery people? I have always been pretty satisfied... |

If I just ordered a pie, I think $2 would be ok. But that never happens in my house. Usually it's a larger order. |

Here's a whole site devoted to tip etiquette: http://www.tipthepizzaguy.com/ I don't know how I know this. |

I always thought it would be a percentage (10-20) like in restaurants. That usually comes out to $2 or so for a pizza at our house. Am I way off base? |

For all delivery people I start at 20% and round up. At our house that's typically $5 to $6. All of the drivers are appreciative. |

I also tip about 20% for delivery people. I get great service from the pizza guy - probably just a coincidence, as it's different kids every time. Question: What is the name of the Chinese restaurant that delivers? Very helpful resource for the working mom ... :-)

I know of two Chinese places that deliver, but I'm not sure what they're called: one is in SO on SO Ave just west of the train tracks (maybe called Great Wall?), and the new one that just opened up on the west side of Springfield Avenue in Maplewood (maybe called Hunan Wok?). Sorry to be so vague about names, that probably wasn't very helpful after all . . . |

Hunan Wok is correct, Amandacat. My wife and I ordered from there the other day, and were very satisfied. |
