I went to see Juan Williams speak last night on Brown vs. The Board of Education, 50 years later at Columbia on Thursday night. He spoke about the school desegragation battle through the lens of Thurgood Marshall's life. It was a masterful and intelligent presentation.

Kudos to CCR for bringing Juan Williams to SO/ Maplewood to speak. I feel proud to part of this community and and am pleased to continue to contribute financially to the CCR's efforts.

Thanks Chocoholic.

You gave me an opening to report that CCN will replay the Juan Williams presentation tonight at 10, and most likely several times over the next few weeks. The caveat here is that I'm not sure if the tape they'll be playing is his evening presentation or the presentation he made at CHS.

My CHS-ers report that Mr. Williams' presentation to the student body was very impressive, also. Part of me is more interested in seeing a replay of his talk to the high school students, than his evening speech.

Juan Williams has a piece in the Education Life section of the NYT today. It is the same story he recounted to us in the CHS cafeteria. So if you missed him in person, check him out in print.

Unfotunately, half of the two towns wouldn't go to see him because he works for Fox News and the other half wouldn't go see him because his views aren't quite as radical as most of his cohorts at that fine fair and balanced station.

Well, the cafeteria was full. So, clearly some people form the SO/Maplewood were able to overcome their political biases for long enogh to go see him speak.
